Liam Henry (Penrith Panthers)

He may have been on the losing side, but Liam Henry was a clear standout in his side's 22-18 loss to the Canberra Raiders.

Playing 64 minutes at prop, he ran for an astounding 280 metres - the most of any player on the field.

Henry got through a mountain of work defensively too, making a game-high 52 tackles and only missing one.

Very impressive. A big offseason and he should raring to go in 2024.

Not sure he is suitable for the bench. Certainly could push Leota to the bench and have him start.

Luron made NSW u19's too, Give him another 12 months and will be pushing for selection

I think we get to caught up in looking for certain types of impact, you can impact a game in a lot more ways than just running over someone. Lindsay has done a fantastic job for us off the bench and he is a similar effort type player. Dont get me wrong having spencer come off the bench is awesome and i'd love Patea or someone else to come in as another spencer but I think the most important thing is having two props who come off the bench and maintain the high intensity defence we play with at our best. Liam right now is the next prop up I wouldnt hold him back because he is being seen as not a bench player. Having two bench props who can handle bigger minutes and keep the intensity up allows our starting props to rest just a bit longer and come back on and provide that impact.

Someone raised a question on (one of the forums) Jett Cleary. NRL.com has highlights of Mulholland cup St.Gregs/St, Dom. Cleary age 18 playing for St.Dom. The jumper numbers were hard to read.

That wasn't the case v the Tigers

When Smith and Henry both played.

Nor our 0-3 record when Spencer starts, especially if Kenny goes into the middle.

That is the issue with Luke in the 17 atm, We lose the middle when he comes on because Kenny and Smith are the middles

We didnt lose because of Henry and Smith, the whole team was shit that game. The entire pack got beat. Smith has done great for us despite not being an impact bench player by your definition, no reason Henry wont be able to do the same if he keeps working hard. If one of the other young props can challenge Henry for the bench spot then great but suggesting he shouldnt be picked as a bench player imo is not right, if he is our next best prop in cup he should be picked. He isnt going to be parachuted into a starting spot next year, like most props he will need work his way into the team via the bench.

That's because you can't have Luke and Kenny defending in the middle together.

I'd have to watch back and see how many metres we average in a set in attack when them on. I don't remember us getting many big sets and opposition on the back foot

This kid has a huge motor. He’s not your 115-120kg Payne Hass style front rower, or Lenui for that matter but his work rate in attack and defence is outstanding. Country boy, he knows what the definition of hard work is. We’ve seen the emergence of Lindsay Smith this season, we will see the emergence of Liam Henry in 2024 I have no doubt.

Francis Manuleleua and Blake Moore return from injury and selected to play jersey Flegg this weekend.
Only just watched the abbreviated highlights. 4 tries no conversations just trying to figure out how we missed all four? A couple from the sideline, but at least one from not far from the posts. Must have had a shocker.

For some reason todays NSW Cup v Dragons is on now as opposed to advertised start time of 1pm. It was supposed to be live on NSWRL tv but that is not happening.
