I'm pretty sure there is air in Western Sydney and developers are not in charge of urban planning.

So, the NIF's went into service today for the first time.

It's funny hearing Transport Jo singing their praises considering they spent their whole time in opposition complaining about them and making bullshit stories up about built overseas/tunnels being too narrow etc.
Also interesting to hear the commentary in this video about door technology being removed from these trains which we all knew was happening.
The reasons though are a blight on the NSW branch of the RTBU, the same union that actually allow this technology in other states on trains that don't have or need guards. I use that word "guards" loosely. It's actually a contradiction in terms.

Anyway, these new trains look and sound sensational.

Or without the stale opinionated political take...

Well, let’s keep waiting for the current govt to actually open some infrastructure that they didn’t oppose , and are seen continually patting themselves on the back and telling everyone how good it is, when they didn’t want it to proceed .

Oops... looks like pursuing rushed and rampant housing developments might be a little problematic?

The first thing I thought of when I heard this was not poor Chris, but the mob at News Ltd and Sky News who have been whinging about the ICAC for ruining lives and being a kangaroo court.

I assume they will continue with that stand for Minns ? Nah.

The Report by the Select Committee on the Proposal to Develop Rosehill Racecourse is attached.

The committee numbers were weighted against Labor and a majority opted to refer the matter of an undisclosed relationship to the ICAC. Remember, anyone can refer anyone to the ICAC. It does not mean that the ICAC are investigating. It does however sling mud and of course, it sticks.

In Annexure 4 the Labor members have written their dissenting views, which where largely ignored by the Chair from the Liberal Party via their majority advantage.

I know that the LNP have spent a bit of time before ICAC and lost their best Premier over it. This smells a bit of a payback. Hey, maybe there is a case of questionable ethics and Minns needs to be held accountable. I can't see it, personally.

The entire chapter about the ICAC referral is below. It is based on a (inaccurate) diary note. It seems that what they are alleging is that the diary note stated the meeting was a "meet and greet", whereby the parties already knew each other.

The evidence before the committee raised concerns that the proper process had not been followed by the Government in the early stages of its dealings with the Australian Turf Club about the proposal. The committee found that the Premier's diary disclosure of the 30 October 2023 meeting between Mr Steve McMahon, Head of Membership and Corporate Affairs, Australian Turf Club and the Premier Hon Chris Minns MP as a 'meet and greet' was inaccurate, misleading and did not adequately describe the purpose of this meeting. It was inappropriate given the long-standing friendship of Mr McMahon and the Premier and the nature of the matter discussed at the meeting. Accordingly, the committee recommended that the Ministerial Diary Disclosure requirements be updated to mandate an accurate description of attendees, purpose and any conflicts of interest.

The committee also found that the manner in which the Premier and Government announced the proposal to develop Rosehill Racecourse for housing was in breach of governmental guidelines on unsolicited proposals by failing to maintain impartiality when it championed the proposal.

Throughout the inquiry there was significant conflicting information that was presented, which asked more questions than it answered. Given this conflicting evidence and unanswered questions before the committee with respect to concerns regarding direct dealings and conflicts of interest as part of the proposal to develop Rosehill Racecourse, it led the committee to take the step of referring this report to the ICAC upon its tabling. It is disappointing that this legitimate step of the committee was disclosed to the media prior to the tabling of this report and the committeee* has resolved to request the President refer this matter to the Privileges Committee.

* not my spelling mistake

Completely agree. It is disgraceful that Minns has been called to account over this.
The ICAC are overstepping their powers IMO.
Why does this state keep running (or trying to) genuinely decent people out of office - Gladys, Minns, O'Farrell (over a bottle of Grange) etc...

And, how the f**k did that wildcard nutcase Latham ever get on the committee?

And possibly poor politics allowing the composition of that committee to be so skewed against the government... don't they have the majority? How did they let that happen in the first place?

Think back, same situation in reverse previously, the committees were stacked with Labor and Greens and so many issues were run agst the LNP. How that happens is politics NSW and the number of independents and Greens in the upper House, in now way is it good for the state.
As Suity said we lost good pollies before, although I think this one is so dumb it won’t go anywhere agst Minns, he is a bit cuddly and has the media in his pocket

Thanks Del. Though I'd have to admit it was a bit of a rhetorical question...

Agree this seems like a dumb referral to ICAC, and ICAC will likely not go down the Gladys pathway at all (which was entirely warranted, as it turns out - given she lost her appeal). Maybe the Libs are just desperate to try and fling some mud in NSW before the Federal election?

Labor don't have a majority in the NSW parliament. They have the most seats in the lower house but need support from the cross bench there and in the upper house.
Won't be getting any parliamentary committees dominate by friendly ALP MPs for the next 3 years
