Words absolutely astound me!
A project this govt would never, ever have built, yet even before it is completed, they are erecting plaques to themselves. Who in the f**k do they think they are?
Once again, riding on the coat tails of a decent infra-structure build from the previous govt.
State Labor absolutely has no shame.

Yet, there'll be no more of these metro's until 2040, so Chris Minn's (*the RTBU) tells us. Even though they have claimed time and time again how great they are, which they truly are.
f**k me.

That plaque doesn't look very level, but it seems to be quite apt in this case. At least everyone appears to be Honourable at the very least.

It's so f**king outrageous!! That's what it is - amirite??

Standard Metro whinge, but still - after all this time - not willing to realise that the state coffers were bled dry by the previous government's infrastructure commitments.
Oh, wait a minute... they've completed a "plaza" and officially opened it - and have a plaque about said plaza? The incomplete stuff in the picture being part of the Metro under construction, and not the completed plaza that was officially opened...

None of that is anywhere near as f**king outrageous as the pearl-clutching OP ingenuously made it sound! Amirite? 🤣

Politicians doing politician stuff. Is it ridiculous that politician kisses babies, shakes hands and erects plaques on a finished job started by the other guy ? Absolutely. Do they all do it ? Of course !

Meanwhile I see that the M6 is 90% finished but permanently (?) on hold because the government is saying to the contractor "it was design / construct. Just f**king finish it". Meanwhile the contractor is saying "what, do I have x-ray vision ? How were we to know that ..."

Politicians doing politician stuff.
I get that, and yes, both sides absolutely do it.
I just laugh at the hypocrisy from some on here. Always defending one side only. It's embarrassing for them.
Defending a failed (and sacked and corrupt transport minister) who is now putting her name on plaques for previous projects that would never have been built under her political party's regime.

I'll continue to call out the hypocrisy of both sides of politics, like I do in the Politics thread.

Oh dear.

Triggered by a plaza plaque, mixing the reason for the plaque up with some unfinished metro work, went on a one sided but misguided rant, and then falling back on a lame Don Chipp justification for having yelled at a cloud the day before in the first place.

But it's nothing to do with the plaque, which you disingenuously implied in your rant.

Maybe next time - before you get so irate about a plaque or something not significant or related to the issue you seem to always be carrying with you - you could pause and consult this helpful graphic, and reflect before making such a goose of yourself?

I did hear Albo talk about High speed rail to Newcastle and Canberra. Thst is a possitive. Id rather we expanded those cities and left Sydney alone untill we can support more people. Working out Windsor way today and housing estates everywhere with bugger all public transport and no major road upgrades. The traffics worse then where I live. Grid lock and more developments.

Not related to the Metro?
It would not have been renovated without it.
Keep ignoring the key issue here, which is that Labor have absolutely no transport policy and are beholden to the RTBU.

No idea. The radio was on and I just caught a piece and thought this would be great.
The Metro from Parra should be a 3-4yr project. Im not sure why its closer to 10.

That's all he developer companies want, new suburbs squeezed into Sydney (or increased density) and a quick easy buck. Real long-term future thinking sends the developers out to those other cities, rather than Sydney, so that they can become attractive equivalent population destinations in coming decades.

Haha! It took 50 years to get a second airport in Sydney. A high speed rail network to Newcastle or Canberra will never happen in your lifetime. But there will probably be statues of Albo around OZ to appease the masses.

Windsor and Richmond is going to be a car park once all the new estates are completed.

They have approved to upgrade/replace the Richmond bridge but let's see how long that takes to start..

1940s they realised we needed a second airport..

Badgerys Creek | Liverpool City Council - Library https://share.google/33kF4kza8ArRS8792
Fairly sure that technology - Digital Aerodrome Service (DAS) which enhances the airport’s ability to operate safely and efficiently in fog and low‑visibility conditions - was the significant driver which enabled Nancy to be viable.

@Suitman can steer me in the right direction. I might be wrong.

Without it, unsure if it would have been 24h and unsure if the business case would have stacked up.

So yes, it took a long time to get there, but it might have taken even longer had science not solved stuff.
