Over the last few years I have noticed that the Souths change room is plastered with inspirational mottos, pictures and memorabilia of their club. In comparison our change room appears to have nothing but the names of the players above the lockers and a couple of advertising boards. In short their changeroom appears to be full of atmosphere ours does not....

We also have a rich history but we do not seem to capitalise on it as well as other teams. I believe a reminder of what you are representing is an inspirational thing. It is a reminder to players that everytime they run out they have the ability to create history themselves and add to the legend.
Motivation is something that energises, directs, and sustains behaviour and right now we need all the motivation we can get!

Is this something our club should pay more attention to?

I strongly agree.

However in the minds of some - we are just a brand.

.This is a very valid point ..... There is so much history, not even mentioned at home games at Kogarah let alone in the change rooms. ....... it's a few hundred bucks in printing, ipretty poor really when u think about it. I also feel ALL new recruits need a "welcome pack" with history of the Club, the great players, the Imortals and what it means to be a Dragon wearing that Red-V.

Souths do home games so much better than us. Saints games are just such a lazy effort. The neg. about souths home games is maybe their amplification of the Burrow on mics so they can be heard throughout the stadium. It sounds really good on tv, and I never used to realise they used mics, and I thought 'man these guys can turn it on'. But back to the dragons....the only sort of imagery we have in the dressing room is the red v painted on the wall, with the 'proud inspired true' slogan. Honestly, that slogan is lazy as well, and kind of lame.

mate the whole club is a lazy effort at the moment.
generally lacking any innovation, strategy and struggling to keep pace with the slicker operators... ie, roosters, souths, dogs, storm. (sure cap cheating is not tolerated) however overall these teams are leading the way both on and off the field...

Absolutely, from coaching to recruiting,it is the result of a tired CEO and board. When you look at the luck we had in getting Bennett and the rejuvenation we had for 3 years,we are back to the tired rabble we have had for 10 or so years, basically since Brian Johnston stepped down.
On the other hand ,Parra are far worse, can you believe they emailed members to make a donation to the club,we should be glad we aren't as bad as that club,,,,atm.

I just get the vibe that the saints administration are resting on their big 2009-11 laurels, and now it's time for a well deserved break. Seriously, it doesn't take much to, for example, make the atmosphere noticeably better at home games. They could spend a couple of grand on installing red glow lights on the grand stand exterior for night games. They could have a more riveting team line up graphics display on the tv ( eg souths had cool sound effects with a CGI display of planets in space behind the players). Geez, make it more interesting! Chuck in a big theme of fire, dragons, smoke and hell! Make it look seem like hell for the opposing fans! I don't know about placing microphones around the fans though. It's kind of cheating.

Oh yeah, and paint the seats red too! What's grey all about? When you see stadiums in England, do grounds like Anfield, Old trafford, Stamford Bridge and Emirates have neutral colours? No, they're red for Liv, Utd and Arsenal, and blue for Chelsea. Geelong's stadium has blue and white seats. Leichardt has orange. Sharks have sky blue. Broncos have maroon/gold. So what a genius idea it was to paint the seats grey. Even Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers asked for the goal nets to be changed to red from white, because it displays the red identity of Liverpool better. When I go to Kogarah games, I don't see a lot of saints identity. It's cool having the legends walk, and the red walls in the new grand stand extension, but you need the other little things like I mentioned to really make it look like a cauldron. That's a good step towards building up passion!

I agree with everything you say.......BUT.... you can have the whole change room wall papered with memorabilia, pictures of past legends etc etc...BUT there's one BIG thing missing in ours ...A COACH that energises, directs and motivates.......

Who exactly make up the board and who is in marketing and promotions.....all appear to be either detached from fans wishes or asleep on the wheel..

Well said mate, another point to add to this theme is in game chemistry. Watch the Rabbitohs when they score or someone makes a good play, every player on the field goes up and congratulates the player.

Whenever we do anything good you might be lucky to see one player on the team smile.

There are some serious chemistry issues with this team and need to be fixed by Icing Price and Ousting Doust. At least that way we can continue with a proper rebuild effort in 2014.

We already mic the stands.
100% guarantee the western stand has effect mic's mid tier on the half way line mounted off the glass panelling.
