what a joke,, north auckland only have to win 1 game this year, against nelson bays in the promo/relegation game.
bays have busted themselves all season and their year still hinges on this 1 game.

time the nzrfu got its act together and sides went up or down on the seasons performance, not by getting its best squad together for a make or break game.

what good will dropping northland to the 2nd division do?
they would win each game by 50 plus and basicly waste a year.
Northland should be in the 1st Division. they have the most clubs of all the provinces. if the bigger unions would stop stealing there talent then things would be alot diffrent.
were also unlucky to be in the blues franchise which means if you want to play in the Super12 you have to leave northland. just look at Rico Gear and Nick Evans.

i totally agree, win one match (only one bonus point even) and you still stay up. now that you don't have to meet the requirements of stadium size etc. this promotion/releagation match shouldn't even been played. nelson bays to 1st division.

when northland were in 2nd div a couple of years ago, they didnt have it all their own way. southland,hawkes bay and nelson bays used to compete well against them.

the point i,m trying to make shiznit is that northland may as well put in the kamo u/7,s for 9 games of the season and only field the stars for the promo/relegation.
whereas bays have done the hard work all season, they could blow it all in one lucky game for northland

the diffrence between the 2 sides is enormous!!
northland thrashed the pants off Hawkes Bay last year. and that Hawkes Bay side was suposedly one of the best sides to ever win the 2nd division.
how about when BOP beat Hawkes Bay easily 2 years straight. :roll:
a 2nd divison side hasnt even come close to winning this game so far so i dont know why you think they deserve to go up.

yeah i think your right. they could play a crap team all year and then bring in the better players for this game. but they dont. they play there arses off in a competition thats 5 times harder then the one that Nelson Bays played in. you sound as if Northland have been on holiday for the past year. theve been working a hell of alot harder then NB's have this year.
if Nelson Bay's win then congratulations to them, they truly desrve the right to go up. if they get creamed by the team that came dead last in the 1st division then i think they should stay down.

the 11th and 12th team in 2006 has to be hawkes bay and either nelson bays/ northland or counties manakau. with preference to nelson bays

im a Northland Fan through and through. i was supporting them in the 2nd division for a long time. we had to beat the Central Vikings on route to winning our promotion. they had the likes of Christian Cullen, Bull Allen and Roger Randle playing in there team. now thats what you bloody call working all year. the 2nd division these days are a joke. Northland should be streaks ahead of Hawkes Bay and Nelson Bay when it comes to the expanded 1st division. if Northland beat Nelson Bay's this year then i dont know how you can justify putting the 2 teams that get perrenial hidings ahead of the side that dishes them out to them. :roll:

probably/maybe not ,, but, if bays win........

i was living in the north recently for the last 5-6 years. apart from the die hards around whangerei (johnny markby at radio northland) the fire has left the belly of the average taniwha fan. i doubt very much if they give a stuff what division they are in.

bays fans on the other hand would walk over broken glass to see their team.
bit like east coast.
i think the unions who have such a strong fan base who support them, come hell or high water, should be rewarded.

they won easily, nelson bays admitted it themselves they just wernt good enough in the end. untill they can beat the bottom of the 1st division then i dont see why they should go up. winning everygame in a mickey mouse competition doesnt give you an automatic right to go up. If Nelson bay's are such a great side why couldnt they beat a side that "play like shyte all year". i watched nearly all of northlands matches this year and this was one of there worse showings in the whole year. yet they still spanked nelson easily. but yeah sure lets let Nelson Bay's go up.... because Ozbash think's its a good idea :roll:

I think its fair enough that they play the promotion/relegation game, because then you'll probably just end out with two or 3 sides interchanging each year, none of them will be able to get any consistancy.

Just remember that it wasnt that long ago that BOP were in the same position as northland. unlike you, i dont like rewarding a side that got beaten easily by at team that 'played shyte all year'.

My old man was a little bit disappointed. He was a lock for Nelson Bays in the late 60's, early 70's and played alongside I think 3 All Blacks. He played for Golden Bay before that, I think Nelson and Golden Bay were separate provincial unions. There isn't many more passionate rah-rah places than Nelson, they have the oldest club in New Zealand, my old man loves that Nelson club with a passion. Back in those days he got to play against a lot of ABs, terrific for him.

Errr... except now the bludger goes for Otago as well :lol:
