Hopefully they can move to the mooted video ref central, where they can have a panel of players and refs adjudicate on all the games, removed from the ground, and doing all the games of the round. Hard to display bias, when you have others who also influence the final decision.

I noticed that as well.

The video ref Mellor shied away from looking at that angle that proved it beyond doubt.
Hate to rain on your conspiracy theory parade, but it was stated at the start of the year on both 9 and Fox (when explaining how the new video ref system worked) that the senior ref would get final decision in the case where they disagreed. So in this case, the only options are both try, or Hayne try, Mellor no try.

Dunno how they get a head as huge as his inside the video ref room.
Biggest melon to play the game.

It is amazing this can happen when you consider how much money transpires through team sponsorship (from betting agencies) and gambling on the match itself.

Suburban grade cricket can get neutral umpires ffs.

newie got dudded bad on the graham knock-on.

the darius in goal thing was a fair call. didn't at any stage look like he had the ball in the field of play - remembering the tryline is in-goal.

like someone else said - the knights were never onside during any of the fieldgoal attempts
.

You dont get given that try and what need did we have for a field goal? we would of had it wrapped up.

given that one of the greatest sharks to ever play rooted his missus I would think he would have done his utmost to f**k us over.

I like how the few Sharks fans in this thread pointing out that the Knights were off side in GP fail to acknowledge that the Sharks were just as off side during that same period when Newcastle were attempting FGs.

Refs never penalise anything during GP. They simply dont have the stones

You must have missed sharks v tigers last year.
Sharks were penalised in GP.

Turns out it should have not been a penalty at all.

They lost probably because of it.

This weekend was interesting - Mellor was the video ref for the Sharks-Knights game besides previously playing for the Sharks (though finished career at Souths) and having their longest serving player having rooted his mrs.

The other sunday game saw Luke Phillips referee the Roosters-Panthers game despite having played for the Roosters.

Jesus Christ, referees make horrible decisions every week, why do people assume it's unfair favouritism as opposed to a simple mistake?

I played oztag against mellor a couple of weeks ago. I broke through the line for a long range breakaway, eventually he ran me down about a millimetre before the try line (he had barely any ground to cover) and I am sloooooooow. I'm thinking "this guy used to be a first grade winger?"

isn't Peranara (spelling) a first grade referee now and didn't he play for about 6 clubs, he should be able to referee any games if that's the case
