Memo to Laurie Daley: Parramatta wrecking ball Joseph Paulo wants to play for you.
Paulo has been a revelation this season and will come into representative reckoning in years to come if his game continues to mature. He is eligible for New Zealand, having lived there until 1999, but his heart is with the Blues, who he has represented at junior level.
"It's always a childhood dream, watching guys like Haynesy [Jarryd Hayne] be a part of Origin," he said.
"The opportunity to play for NSW came first and I was happy to be a part of that.
"It was tough for my family in New Zealand; they were all expecting me to play Junior Kiwis, but I'm happy to play Origin."

I suppose he is putting it out there now the RLIF hasn't given the USA the exemption for RLWC 2017 they earned by a top 8 finish and now putting up road blocks for 17.

I think everyone's confused. I would be pretty sure the article is talking about Junior Paulo who currently plays for Parramatta who is only 20yo.

Not to be confused with Junior Paulo who did play for the USA but is a 30yo who is at Penrith and I think Joseph who has played for Samoa and the USA is a typo as I can't see him being realistically a chance for NSW and can't really be considered a wrecking ball.

They must've meant Junior (who is a prop), as the older Joseph Paulo (lock/five eighth) is hardly a wrecking ball. Junior representing NSW in Origin would be a no brainer in terms of eligibility for where he played his first footy, and nothing to really get worried about as he hasn't represented anyone else (though I guess could qualify for NZ, if they came knocking first?).
