I have never really rated him. I would have had Fifita ahead of him all year. He is a nothing player.

have you seen the stats with him and without him?

very surprising

something like 14 wins out of 19 with

and 1 win out of 6 without him

That could be a big blow mentally for the Tigers if he is out of the game this weekend. A real wise head for the side.

In 2010 we are 16 wins 4 losses with Payten in the side, and 0 wins 6 losses with him out of the side. Will be a huge blow if he's out.

You've clearly got no idea.

Payten's defensive workload around the ruck is IMMENSE. I love Fifita's impact but he is a lazy slug at marker, and very easily caught out. He is only an impact player right now, and wouldn't even have a quarter of Payten's influence.

People always talk about his skill for a prop, but it's his defence which adds so much to our side.

Massive, massive loss.

Ive just changed my tip from the Tigers to Dragons on the back of that news.

I think the Tigers need all four of Ellis, Gibbs, Heigno and Payten fit and firing to win this one on the back of Marshall and Farah.

Very unfortunate indeed.

I just think he doesn't add much and for all this " halfback in a forwards body " talk he doesn't show it much either. Still i am probably wrong and you guys who watch him closer every week would be in a better position to have a say on him.

Crocker came to Souths with an amazing win/loss record with the Storm..we have won about 2 games from the 10 or so he has played for us.

Todd Payten is so important it's not funny. From 2008 to 2010 we are 60% winners when he plays, and just 28% winners when he does not. That is a damning stat. 16-4 this season with Payten. He is so valuable to our tip on plays and structure in attack. His ruck defence is invaluable. I am also going to change my tip from the Tigers to the Dragons based on this news. Im gutted about this injury i think it could be the difference.

Statistically at least he is the most important player in the side. For those that think he is just a average back rower, you really don't watch the Tigers structure closely enough and how crucial Payten is. Terrible blow for us, much bigger blow then opposition fans that don't watch the Tigers year in year out could imagine.
