Pearce

Disagree. Pearce is the only one who needs to get his priorities straight. He can either he hit the piss and act like a dickhead without consequence, or he can be an NRL player. Can't do both.

I agree with you. It's up to him now - if he got canned the whole year, I'd say its a fair punishment.

Just don't think a drunk footballer (hardly a new concept) is worthy of front page news where news agencies are paying in the vicinity of $40k plus for mobile phone footage.

Plenty more important stuff going on in the world.

Let's not pretend he was simply drunk. He humped a dog ffs.

In a media landscape where traditional newspaper revenues are dying out, all the cash is in online ads and clicks. A video everyone is going to click on (and we all have - the story is as viral as it gets) is gold. $40k is cheap.

If Pearce was a nobody, nobody would click. His choice.

Fair enough. Guess we're all still talking about it so mission accomplished from the media's point of view.

For the record, I couldn't give two sh*ts about Pearce. In my book he's an ordinary player and seemingly an ordinary bloke off the field as well. If he got rubbed out for good, I couldn't care less.

Just happy it didn't happen to a Dragons player.

Filming and selling something is a bit of a low act when it's just designed to cause outrage and no obvious actual harm has been done. That said, it in no way diminishes the actions being filmed.

I remember an old saying I grew up with - never do or say anything you'd be ashamed of appearing on the front page of the paper the next day.

No actual harm done? Forcing yourself on a member of the opposite sex is quite harmful.

No question about that. And if that's what happened then yes that was seriously out of line. I am a long way from being a fan of Pearce, on or off the field. However I've seen the footage, as no doubt you have, and I'm not entirely convinced that was the case.

I agree. She didn't back away straight away. Anyway he looked like a dickhead and needs to be punished but what a merkin act to sell the video.

What's worse, it was so calculated as well. He was asking for Pearce's name and everything to incriminate himself more and he got bidders on the video the very next day. Scumbag. Doesn't sit well with me that Pearce's career is on the line whilst some nobody with a phone is $60k richer.

And what about Nikorima and Copley - how could they let their team mate get filmed like that?

Not excusing Pearce as he should have known better and he deserves everything he gets but I hope the lowlife that filmed him gets his dose of karma as well.

Raises the question what he could have got for the video from the roosters. What do you think uncle nick would have been willing to pay to bury this?

Maybe the cameraman sold himself short...

Lol...anyone here who reckons they wouldn't sell that video (or any of a non-dragons NRL star) for $60k is a f**king liar.

So you would set out to film a public figure in a private residence making a goose of himself (but not breaking any laws), to make a quick buck??

Pearce's career is on the line because of his own behaviour. Everything else is secondary. .. window dressing.

Why would Nikorima do anything about Pearce? After all, who gets the number seven if Pearce gets kicked out? And why does Subjective View think Nikorima's better than Hutchinson? (other than it being his only way to disparage the Dragons in this thread)

So many questions. Glad it's all happening to the Roosters.

Well I made a point of saying I don't think I'd film it, and I'll go on to say I couldn't see myself sell it if I had it through some other means.
If that makes me a liar, sorry, f**king liar, in your eyes that's unfortunate, but quite wrong.
Opportunism like that doesn't sit well with me. Of course until the moment arrived none of us know exactly what we would do. I just know that the thought of it leaves me feeling uneasy.
It's not likely that I'll ever be in a position to be tested on the matter.
You'll have to consider me a theoretical liar in that case.

If I was at a friends house and someone famous was acting like that, I'd have zero problem showing the world how much of a f**kwit he is. If I scored $60k from it, thats just gravy.

If thats genuinely true, good for you sir. I guess we operate on different moral compasses. I personally dont owe Pearce, or whichever celebrity it would be, the courtesy of not exposing his f**ked up behavior. Even moreso if he was in my friends house, doing that to her, her lounge or her dog. The money would be a sweetener.

I've had my say on the Pearce story and whilst I think the bloke badly needs some help and I repeat I don't condone he's behaviour one bit, and Im not a fan of his but the way the media has gone about this defies belief really...because there was a dog involved they even had an interview with a bloke from the RSPCA on the news tonite...Im mean really..paleeese......when I saw that I said that'll do me.

Yeh, nah.

If that happened at my female friend's house and Pearce was acting like that, my first thought would be to help to throw him out. I wouldn't be filming the idiot while he proceeded to molest my friend (and then her dog) and piss on the lounge.

Hey but that's me, Got no problem if you'd do the opposite - at least you're honest.
