Pedestrian Forwards

After watching last nights game, it was there for all to see, that our forwards just don't have the leg speed to get over the advantage line.

If anyone wanted a case in point, just take a look at the way an ex player of ours was storming onto the ball against the slime last night, as in the shape of villa the gorilla.

Size is good to have, but it's how you use it, just ask Brian Smith, he goes out in the off season and acquires bulk to try and match it with some of the better sides.

The only thing is, forwards need to have speed as well as as a big frame
and strength to utilise it to it's full potential.

Manu and villa had this in bucket loads.

Harrison has the potential from what i seen last night, but he was playing in the centres.

Our forwards need to seriously be put through some speed work.

And it does'nt help either, when the forwards are all flat footed. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Payten, Oneill, Sattler are all trying to be ball players.

Throw the smaller Senter, Galea in there

And its really a bit of a mess

Certainty not the ideal mix of ball players and power forwards a good team needs.

Harrison is our big hope.

gibbs took a hit-up late in the half from a penalty where he was standing next to the man at the mark and from a stand still start he took a hit-up and was smashed in the tackle. That is just completely stupid. Whatever happened to running on to the ball? Of course we are going to struggle in the forwards with that sort of approach to hitting it up. They need to be timing their runs, getting good speed up and hitting the line and causing the defense to actually work, rather then surrendering to the tacklers and letting them turn you on their back. Halatau was a perfect example of how to take a hit-up and it pisses me off that our f**king front rowers can't be shown how to run. Jamie Small can teach them a few lessons if they are interested in learning how an actual front rower should play.
