Peja traded for Artest.

It took several weeks, but the Indiana Pacers finally found a taker for Ron Artest. After a hectic 24 hours, the Kings and Pacers finalized a deal sending Artest to Sacramento in exchange for Peja Stojakovic. Scottie Pippen thinks it's a great deal for both teams. Terry Porter, the former head coach of the Bucks who is currently a part-time analyst for the Spurs and also spent a year as an assistant in Sacramento, broke down the trade for us as well:

Peja will be a good fit for the Pacers if they can extend his deal and not have him as a rental. Peja, O'Neal, Jackson - thats spiffy to build around.

The trade was announced a day earlier, then seemingly cancelled by Artest not wanting to go to Sac. Back on now though. I think Pippen's right that Peja will score more in Indiana's offense, and will be comfortable playing with fellow Euro player Sarunas Jasikevicius.

It should be good for both teams if Artest keeps his head on straight and plays well.

I thought that he wanted to play for a team where the offense was based aroun him.

I cant see that happening as Sacto with players like Bibby, Wells and Miller.

Anyway its not a bad trade for both teams. Except it means that Danny Granger will still nto get his chance at teh starting spot for a while.
