Goldthorpe was nervous to say the least. After years of playing and coaching in other Fantasy Rugby League competitions, Goldthorpe took the helm of the New Zealand Churr Bro’s [relocated them as the Perth Reds] in his debut winning in impressive fashion 58-18 over Machu Picchu Llamas.

Reds captain Jesse Bromwich led from the front and scored 2 tries and is in great form. Sam Tomkins, Josh Papalii and Shaun Kenny-Dowell also scored doubles while Simon Mannering, Matt Cook and Jake Friend scored tries in coach Goldthorpes debut.

Round 23 - Perth Reds 16 def. by New England Celtic 38

After coming off a debut win the Perth Reds came back to Earth with a thud as competition leaders New England Celtic defeated the Perth Reds in their Western Australian debut.

The score didn't reflect how close the game was withe Reds leading 16 points to 8 at half time, then Celtic poured on 30 unanswered second half points.

It didn't get much better for the Reds when superstar playermaker Ben Hunt suffered a serious injury in the 54th minute. He will be out of 4 - 6 weeks.

Round 25 - Perth Reds 42 def. South Canberra Knights 16

REDS GET BACK ON TRACK WITH WIN

PERTH, WA – Sam Tomkins scored a hat-trick and took his try scoring tally to 5 under Coach Goldthorpe while his long lost adopted brother Sam Moa dominated a forward inspired game and the Perth Reds got their second win of the season by holding on to beat the South Canberra Knights 42-16.

Coach Goldthorpe threw out the challenge in training last week and the Reds accepted. They cling onto 8th spot as they try and fight off Raymond Terrace Tanks and Roma Vandali.

Thoughts go out to the South Canberra Knights manager as they deal with family issues.
