Its an interesting experiment in if you throw enough money at something will it stick. They've got a massive war chest from next year, no doubt some of it will be used to increase the spend in NSW and Qlnd. If it makes any difference time will tell. Swans were a success for them GWS werent. Grassroots seems to have grown but no real data on by how much. Where they go from there is anyone's guess.
Anyone's guess?

Who the f**k cares...
For someone who hates union so much, seems you have a soft spot for the fumbleballers

We will have won when Homebush reverts to a 90k rectangular stadium

Canterbury is the key for Homebush to become an 80k to 90k rectangular stadium one day. A few weeks ago on a Friday 6pm timeslot, 35,500 turned up. That's bonkers! And of course over 50,000 came in week 1. It was the Dogs first finals appearance in eight years.

If anything, the code needs a strong Canterbury for the next five to ten years.

TBH they had to try. They've tapped out the wasteland states and can't expand into any other worthwhile areas. They f**ked up with branding though. Calling themselves Parra/Blacktown/Penrith or even just Western Sydney would have helped. Taking 1/4 of their home games to Canberra was stupid as well. But it just goes back to it being a dumb idea in the first place. They knew the support wasn't there so they cast a wide net and hoped people outside of the area would make up for it.

No idea. League has decent support through Easts and Manly in those areas though.
What about North Shore.

I suspect things like SCG / SFS members are propping up AFL and RU

It used to be the hottest ticket in town between RL and Cricket, where you could watch everything at the SCG

Now you pay such a high fee and waited for so long to get in, you or your family/friends use these tickets to try and show you are getting value for money

Actually the N stands for different countries in the those leagues.

The N in NBA is referring to USA which expanded to add Canadian teams

The N in NHL is referring to Canada which expanded to add USA teams.
This is true but it is brand recognition. PVL isn't going to invest all this time and money in the US venture to simply change the competition name in the middle or straight after. The cost involved to switch it all over too would be quite large.

Yes I agree best to keep it as is. I find it interesting that the Canadian league (NHL) has expanded to such an extent that people think it is a US competition. Despite all that it kept its name as NHL and it hasn’t hindered it’s success.
