If that winds up being the case, I'd agree with you. This is one case where the ARLC would be better off bringing kick-off forward by around 30 minutes (at least) for the locals.

this kind of thing is what will grow RL interest in Nz long term, but the money in this event is East Coast tv markets

TBF that was pretty much the whole Superleague season and the World Club Challenge...

I maintain that an Origin series played under the existing rules (i.e where you first played footy) that included NSW, Qld, NZ and PNG would take rep footy in the Australia-Pacific region to a whole new level.

If anything it will make the Kiwis want to see more of their national team playing against the players on display either in the Oz team or the Islander teams, personally I expect wanting to see more of the Kiwis playing the former.

He’s talking about guys like ponga being allowed to play origin and for the kiwis
