For those looking for positive news about player registrations all the signs are we will easily exceed last years registrations across the country. Given there was a good increase last year as well the Vlandys administration is kicking more goals!
It's probably due to a massive increase in girls registering.

Yes the penny has dropped.

The battle is at the grassroots level and in juniors.

Simply the NRL must outspend AFL to win the war.

Money needs to be pumped into support at the kiddie level for the next generations' hearts and minds.

We are so close.
I’ve said multiple times elsewhere the NRL should target school footy. High school and primary school. They should get the commonwealth bank cup back to what it use to be or actually much better than that.

Hold on a minute.

Hasn't Perth Red argued for years that Perth needs a team so local RL players don't need to relocate to Brisbane and Sydney to play in the NRL?

Now he's saying that kids from Newcastle have to relocate to Sydney to have a career in the NRL?
Im saying your fantasy that regional kids always want to stay local is a myth, as is proven by the Newcastle Knights.

And comparing kids having to move from Perth to Sydney to kids going from Newcastle to Sydney is laughable.

What's this voucher bullshit anyway? Is that some NSW thing? I've never seen it in other states.
All States have Jnr rego vouchers. Most are now means tested so only available to some. Amount varies State to state.

School footy will never match the old Commonwealth Bank Cup due to the sports high school programs. Same teams fighting it out every year.

The NRL could fix that part of it.
But the main thing that will be hard to get back is the tv thing.
It used to be on tv when tv was only 3 or 4 channels, so that was a pretty huge deal. Now even if they got it on nine again - who watches nine any more?
The best they could do and should do is get it on fox.
Also get games played before big NRL games.

NRL is running those school programs already between Manly and Newcastle.

Not sure about other areas

Easts use this rule to under pay CC kids while giving big deals to kids playing in the city
