The NRMA Insurance Broncos have today agreed to a request for a release from Peter Wallace from the end of the 2013 season.
After six seasons with the Broncos, Peter will be returning to his home city of Sydney to continue his career.
Broncos head coach Anthony Griffin praised the tough halfback for his tenure at the club, a time in which he played four Origin matches for NSW.
"Peter had been a wonderful player at the Broncos," said Griffin.
"He has shown application and willingness to work in everything he has done here.
"I have a huge amount of respect for him as a person and a player.
"We wish him all the success on the next stage of his career."
Wallace has played 137 NRL games for the Broncos after debuting in the opening round of 2008.

Looks like he's going to Penrith on a 3 year deal.

Good move for all parties.

Pete's been a good servant to this club for years and I appreciate his commitment. All the best at Penrith mate.

Never questioned the guys commitment to the club, always gave 100% and could tell he genuinely liked the club.

Unfortunately for Wal hes played his whole career in the wrong position, all in all it's the beginning of a new side for the broncos. Huzzah.

About damn time. I have nothing against him as a person but as a player, he is fundamentally useless. Lockyer was his lifeline for the duration of his time here and as soon as Locky leaves for good, it gets put out into the open just how average Wallace is.

Good luck in your future endeavors Peter, but please stay the hell away from the Broncos jumper.

Peter Wallace is a good player who's gone stale.

He came on the scene and was influential enough to crack a NSW jumper. Very gutsy, committed, but with limitations.

But since the retirement of Lockyer, and being put in a position of being the creative spark in the team, he was found wanting.

He wasn't able to adjust to the new world, and Griffin isn't the coach to kick start a player's career. Playing but home in Sydney, with a player like Soward could do wonders for him.

Wallace has looked way too comfortable for too long. He was being coached by a coach who will run a mile from taking a risk, and Wallace started to play the same. He was predictable and pedestrian.

His defence is always first class, and I wish him the best back home in Penrith.

If M4L thinks Wallace's best position is 5/8, well he won't be getting much joy there with Soward set to be the running half.

Wallace and Soward are going to be a terrible halves combo. Basically they are same style of player (uncreative, textbook, strong kicking games).

The most annoying thing about Wallace was his inability to pass the ball at the correct time. Those dummy and run plays he use to do, they only came off about 1 out of a 100 times.

Our best halfback since Langer/Walters, but that's not saying much, won't miss him in the long run.

I bet it's not the big money contract that your merkin of club dudded him out of by telling him he was part of their plans before unceremonious dumping him for next season.

He will go good back at Penrith under Cleary and behind one of the best packs in the comp next year.

Something he hasn't had at the broncos for a couple of years.

Yeah good one, blame the forwards for his complete and utter lack of creativity and quick decision making.

Wallace would give a nut for the Broncos. But at the end of the day his lack of creativity and talent are too obvious. He is chewing up important cap space and has been preventing Hunt from developing for too long. Good news for the Broncos.
