For those that don't know he was the ref in the Dragons vs storm match.
Apart from a lax 10m at times I thought he had a good game. No controversies and had the balls to call it as he saw it without relying on the video ref for every decision. A welcome addition to the current cavalcade of dissentry we have running around masquarading as referees.

(Yeah I know this isn't a complaint but surely we can say nice things about them when they deserve it too eh?)

If your in the news its always bad news.
He went OK.

Good post slackboy. Refs have plenty of good games as well. Too early to tell for the long term, but Haines' debut was alright.

I've heard him be wrapped a number of times on radio and in print since Saturday, good on him for a great debut. Hope we see more of this in the future.

Very good debut IMO. Stamped his authority down quickly when Ryles gave him some lip after a penalty and marched them another 10.

Let the game flow pretty well, made sure no one was laying all over the player, resulted in a free flowing game.

One dodgy call I must say was I thought the Nightingale no try when Soward chipped over the top Nightingale caught it and got driven over the sideline after throwing it back in to Jeremy Smith may have had grounds for a penalty. Looked like a mid-air tackle to me, but what can you do in those situations? You've got to make the tackle or it's a try. Should have at least been referred to the video ref to adjudicate on it.

Apart from that I was very impressed, a hell of a lot better than most of the refs running around these days.

And prompty forgot about the rule for the rest of the game ...

Ryles = Referee Target - even for the newbies ...

Johnnie Bravo - Attacking players can be tackled mid air - defending players can not ...

unless of course the defending side is the Dragons and you are playing in newcastle .. then Mander will ping you for it ...

Refs are irrelevant when your as good as Manly.
Just ask Parra who received 7 penalties to our 1 ! LoL....

Yep no complaints here i thought he done a pretty good job especially on debut. He called things when they needed to be called and left things alone that should've been. Just the way a game should be reffed.

Yep - called things that needed to be called (read: penalised us for backchat in the first 10 minutes) and left things alone that should've been (read: ignored the same from your lot all game)

one game in and he has obvious problems with consistancy ... still .. would rather him having an influence on Dragons games than merkin clark
