Piakura will travel to Sydney this weekend for another meeting with Bulldogs head coach Trent Barrett where the gun forward will tour the club’s Belmore facilities.

Since taking over at Canterbury-Bankstown, Barrett has landed some major recruitment coups signing Nick Cotric, Jack Hetherington, Kyle Flanagan and Corey Allan for this season and then Josh Addo-Carr for 2022.

If the Bulldogs can land Piakura’s signature, it’s a major coup.

A promising young left edge forward at 500k. Maybe it is would be worthwhile for Griffin and Millward to meet with him. Might be just the signing we are looking for.

Sims to right edge and Piakura to left edge.

Dogs seem to always get their man so Saints will be wasting their time.

Saints need experience forwards, they have enough youngsters without NRL experience at the moment.

If dogs sign this bloke and he plays left I wondering what they are going to do with Raymond Fatila-Mariner

Why is it that these bottom dwellers and struggling clubs can now sign up quality players and we can’t. There is something that is holding back players signing on with us. Is it the Wollongong base, is it an old fashioned board, is it 7 years of utter rubbish ‘Dragons Footy’, is it a perception of a club living on the glory 11 in a row and can’t accept we are no longer a power house club. Also having the likes of Graham, Widdop, Frizzel and Cam all leave us won’t be helping...

We are on the mend in so many ways and on so many levels. Let's just say we have gotten rid of the Saints/Illawarra politics and now are only saddled with the left over board members and staff. At the end of this season we will be rid of players we don't want to keep, except for maybe Hunt.

We are moving from a one dimensional game plan to a whole new style of play that I think will be very entertaining and a pleasure for our roster to play too. Griffin will need to upgrade:
Discipline
Attitude
Pride
Respect
Defensive pattern
Attacking skills
Develop new player combinations
As sense of comradery

Yes it could take time but then again if it clicks with our young brigade, it might just fall into place this season.
