There should be an international RL hall of fame with Puig Aubert, Tom van vollenhoven etc

Didn't the great man once light up a ciggy on the field?

He was known to have a smoke on the field.

From memory he also didnt have time for tackling because he felt that was the job of the forwards. :D

Yeah he did smoke on the field. On tackling, I herd something like he would miss tackles on purpose as a way of punishment if he felt the players around him were not performing 100% or something...He played for AS Carcassonne and XIII Catalan yeh?

He outright refused to tackle altogether according to my Dad. He says he was wonderful in attack, easily the best at the time, but would stand with his arms folded as players ran past him to score.

The "Puig-Aubert can't tackle" story has grown with the passing of time.

Aubert was an excellent tackler when he wanted to be - which was all of the time in the big matches.

You didn't see his tackling lacking when France flogged Australia in the two Sydney tests in 1951.
