Pistons have come thru with the goods...they beat the heat in seven.
In 89/90 the pistons beat the bulls in seven and the Suns lost in the western conference finals to the Blazers...some silimarities.
Pistons..back to back and take the Spurs in 6

Congrats to the Detroit Pistons taking out the my Miami Heat (Wade played injured, but no excuse for game 7)...

I will be cheering on the repeat for the Detroit Pistons.

bad boys are back (well sort of)...Sheed took care of Wade in game 5 with the charge and the rest of the team stood up in 6 and 7. Sheed played BIG in game 7.
Again all the media experts in america have mostly picked the Spurs...i guess they didnt learn from last yr.
Spurs play great Defence, but they were not pushed vs the Suns. The suns scored at will on the spurs. Granted the spurs went well on offense, but i think the pistons are too athletic and long for the spurs

Spurs in 5. They are took good. They can play the up tempo offense game they used to beat Phoenix in games 1,2 at Phoenix. They can also play the defensive game. They have to much scoring I think for Detroit. They are also going to be fresher.

I'm thinking 4-3 to Spurs. Pistons have done very well, and have definately taken away any doubt they were the real champions last season!!!

This is gona be one boring finals series.

Not if you know the game. These are great fundamental, defensive teams.

In game 5, Duncan had a poor 4th quarter and OT, missing free throws, missing easy shots, and fumbling an easy pass. Horry bailed him out though. We should re-visit our greatest clutch shooter thread.

What a dumb mistake by Sheed at the end of game 5, following the ball and allowing Horry an open 3. But he made up for it tonight with some clutch plays in game 6.

Pistons...can they make history once again?
in 1990 they beat the blazers three straight time in the finals aftr having not won there since 1977.
in 2005 the pistons had not won in SA since 1997..and more to the point had never beaten Duncan in SA at the SBC centre.
Pistons looking to become the 1st team to win both games 6 and 7 on the road.
They are halfway there and no one would back against it happening.

Pistons gave it a good go, but couldn't hold on to that 3rd period lead they had. A good series between 2 tough teams.

Something occurred to me watching the series. Why isn't Rasheed a better player than he is. I know he's talented and contributes to the Pistons' success, but why isn't he a more dominant player? If he put his mind to it he should be right up there with Duncan as a star - he's got all the physical ability, but doesn't consistently put it together. He should be a 20+ ppg scorer in the low post.
