Please don't do the Big Day Out...but either way...

:)

"First things first. The Pixies will tour Australia
early next year – you read it here exclusively.
Lead singer, Frank Black or his Pixies persona,
Black Francis, wants to get the message
across. The only question is when.
Frank says the band has been approached to
play the Big Day Out circuit, however he has resisted
that idea. “It’s not that I’m against Big Day
Out,” the bald-headed 40-year-old says, “but as
The Pixies have never played Australia I thought it
would be cooler to do our own tour and not play in
a great big field but in a room or a club or something
where we are in people’s faces. You know,
‘This is The Pixies and we are here at last’. It isn’t
always about the money for me or for The Pixies.
We do have an aesthetic…
“Anyway we’ve left in the hands our agent. So
Big Day Out or on our own tour, The Pixies will be
in Australia early next year and you are the first
person I’ve told, so tell everybody down there.”

This rumour about the Pixies goes around every year...FYI the most likely headliner for BDO is Nine Inch Nails....

The band that just left our shores? Sounds pretty unlikely.

Pixies, Weezer and Franz Ferdinand. Lock it in now - they are the headliners.

NIN (and Foo Fighters for that matter) will have just toured - what a daft attempt of a guess!

At the Melbourne show Mr Reznor himself said that they'd be returning to Australia early next year...

I saw Weezer supporting Counting Crows in Toronto about 11 years ago.

They made the Crows seem pretty ordinary.

I'd be very keen to see them again. Their DVD is great.

I saw Weezer at Livid in 1996 and they were fantastic. Lets hope that it happens, but my mail is that it is as good as done.

Saw Pixies in Manchester a year ago. Very good, although I think they've been touring solidly since so might be getting tired.

Glad they're making it to Oz if this time the rumour is true...
