As I said, the most positive thing is that it appears to be only announcing a release.

If the reason for the release was purely the injury and his chances of playing again, I would have expected a retirement announcement.

Mate,

this is been on the cards for months! there was always speculation that they needed to release room in their cap to fit guys like Price and Wiki in the squad.

well thanks R&S, greatly appreciated

and it's sad news for the Warriors, but it's possibly excellent news for the EELS

hope PJ is alright and his wife is not too stressed and they receive a little bundle of joy in September as well as some good news from PJ's doctor

come on PJ, as someone said "Phone Home"

and devestated......i couldn't believe it when it was announced that PJ went to the Warriors and even he regreted it for a while after he did it, but the fact that Parra signed Dykes and MacFadden kinda sealed his depature

I don't know about that. They've released a fair few players to England this season and next, they should have had a fair bit of room under the cap.

Dykes yes - but McFadden was signed AFTER PJ had signed with the Warriors.

They've spent close to $1 Mil. They signed Wiki and Price for about $400 000 each and also signed Nathan Fien.

If you remember rightly he tried extremely hard to not leave when Taylor announced he would retire - he had only signed a letter of intent. He would have played half with Dykes at 5/8. It was the Taylor - will he wont he thing that kept him guessing and lead to him signing with the Warriors (on July 1st if I remember rightly too)

yeah i know

he had been kept back enough as it was and i remember after he had signed he went around hanging his head in the media and the even almost found a way for him to back out of it

so if he was to come back surely it would be from us???

was just announced on the Radio that PJ has indeed decided to return home to Australia and has a release from the Warriors and it is on the Warriors website as R&S told us

the story did not mention anything about where he might play if he can or intends to play next year??????

someone was saying that he would be the starting hooker with him interchanging with riddell, morris and witt in halves...imagine that starting pj and having pig come into the fray after 20 mins or so...

IMO it would work better the other way round with PJ coming in after 20 or so, similar to Sullivan at the Sharks!!

I can tell you he left before we signed Dykes.

He spilt the beans to me at Brooky that he won't be a Parra the next season and that was about June. he ten retracted and said he didn't know what he was doing.

well the point being players and coaches always know what is on the cards well before we do or the media do

i'm sure PJ knew that something was brewing about buying Dykes or another big name for the halves and he didn't want to sit around another year on the bench or in and out of first grade

and anyway.......all that is history if he comes back :D

I think PJ's biggest problem at the time was that his manager was given power of attorney which meant Bannigan's signature was worth more than PJ's at the time. Parra didn't know he had signed with NZ because I'm pretty sure that he actually agreed terms for a renewal and Parra accused the warriors of breaking the anti-tampering rules. It was about that time that PJ realised that Bannigan had the rights to his signature and we had to let him go.

Yeah....it was actually his manager that signed that letter, wasn't it?

well i just hope that Bannighan gets his signature back with Parra this time

and the radio news at 12.00 noon reiterated that PJ has a release from the Warriors and also said that he is hoping to play with a Sydney-based club in 2005
