I’m addtion to the new signings (Port, Joass, O’Hara, Soper-Lawler, Bishop and Burns) Souths have re-signed Hamilton, Magey, Tamou, Tuimavave, Doyle and Fatafehi.

They have also signed Rory Ferguson, who was with the team already but previously on a Broncos contact.

The Capras seem to have a strange system of recruiting, it appears the incoming coach does all the recruiting. In previous seasons:
Wayne Barnett - Kiwis from the Bartercard Cup,
John Harbin - Locals,
Jason Hetherington - He had no idea what he was doing,
Kim Williams - Melbourne Storm under 20's,
David Faiumu - Samoans,
Each year there is a big turnover of players as the club has no allegiance to an NRL Club and therefore can't provide genuine pathways. The best juniors leave after school.

With due respect to Rockhampton, it would be a difficult place to attract players to. It's not like just going to a different club in SE Qld where you may not even have to move house. Job opportunities aren't that flash there either.

I think the Capras do a fair job most years under the circumstances.

With references to "Ground Hog Day" and to much fanfare the Capras have announced that they will again become a feeder/development club to the Broncos in 2019. This is about the 3rd time they have gone down this route to no avail. Will be interesting to see what the so called benifits are.
