Players doing the play on signal

This really pisses me off. The players should be playing the game; not doing signals to the ref. Either the ref so the incident, so is able to make a judgement without the player signalling what he thinks should happen, or if the ref didn't see what happened then he/she should rely on the word of one of the other officials and not the player.

I think a player doing the play on signal should be a sin-binnable offence.

Its no worse than players verbally telling the ref what he should be ruling and that happens constantly. In fact the constant comments from players would be more annoying and distracting than someone waving an arm every now and then.

It's no different to the players running over to the ref crying after every try is scored begging and pleading with him to go to the video ref in the hopes that their dogshit defense was saved by some obstruction that had no bearing on the play.

"Check it!! Check it!! It's gotta be something!!"

I hate players at dummy - half throwing their hands up trying to get a ruck penalty for a slow the ball.

Don't care when players from other teams do it, but when it's a player from my team I'm thinking - get your bloody hands down to the play the ball and concentrate on what you're supposed to be doing. Yes, I'm thinking of you Mahe Fonua.

I hate the 10 finger sin bin signal accompanied with a screwed up face. I also hate the raising of one finger into the air and screaming "ONE SET!" (defence)...How the f*ck do you know it's gonna just be one set? It could be a lot more than 1.

That clown Josh Dugan is a pro at both.

I like it, I think it is both cool and good and we should present those with the best hand signals awards at the end of the year. They would receive a trophy and an offer as a landing signal officer apprentice once they retire.

I believe it should continue, as clearly the player is in a better spot to see if it's play on or not, and wouldn't say so if it wasn't the case.

And any player that is in good position and doesn't choose to help the ref, they are the ones that should be in the bin.

Seriously, when did it become a crime to help your fellow man?

I feel the tackle count should automatically restart when a player does this. Also, the captain of the team should get his own whistle and be able to award tries as his personal discretion.

What if they are signalling to their own teammate that picked the ball up that may not have heard or seen the 6 to go call from the referee?
