Players who don't know the rules

As a player and ref, I could never understand how blokes couldn't know the rules.

Okay, some are obscure and most aren't refs but Cogger, Jenkins and Saifiti should be made to study for their ref's ticket, not one of them had a clue to put a foot out and catch it.

Just watched the drop-out when lomax gets dragged into touch. Someone must have told Jenkins the rules at ht, suddenly he's planted one foot over the touch line.

Jenkins knows the rule as he did it perfectly on a kick last week. They were just derping it up tonight and getting in each other's way.

Those are simple rules as well. Imagine how many times players can’t get their head around decoy running rules. That’s the cause of it getting messed up so much and the fans end up blaming the refs when coaches aren’t preparing the players well enough.

IIRC Will Chambers let Parra back into the 2009 GF by not knowing the inside ten metres rule collecting a short drop out.

The bulldogs players on Good Friday all those years ago who didn’t know the rules about fouling a field goal taker (penalty being 10 out and in front not where the ball lands) comes to mind, although that probably falls under the category of obscure rules.
