I'm playing my first year of union this year. I've played 2 years of league before and then had a break last year due to personal reasons, but am keen and ready to go. However like i said it's my first time playing the game and i was wondering if anyone has any tips or just general advice for me?
Thanks a lot!

you could start by watching S14s, just don't watch the Tahs atm

hard to give you advice not knowing your position or what level you are playing

I played centre in league and then played flanker in rugby union . Flanker has got to be the best position in both codes and you have to be very fit to play it .

Just remember, the most important thing in union is never to run off too far on your own, unlike league you need your team-mates to back you up, otherwise it's a turnover.

If you play in the forwards, the easiest thing todo is aim to be 1m behind the ball at all times. Backs are pansies, don't be a back.

I played openside flanker for about 3 years until I got abit too small for that and they moved me to outside centre. Basically it depends which p[osition your suied to, i.e what position you played in league and/or your body type

i was an openside in rugby for a long time until i got abit big so they moved me to 8 & 6.
i didnt play league until i was 17 and for the 3 seasons i played league i went from the 2nd row to lock. then to 5/8 then back to lock. i was pretty lucky because i played touch 6 days a week growing up and because of that i always had very good footwork for a forward.

funny story.. i was at the national secondary schools in '01 we played against Kelston boys. i was in the 2nd row and put cheeky little jink and step on this monster forward named E lauaki. i ended up being stopped just short by the fullback. but hame' had a big smile on his face and he gave me a wink... now when i see hame' for the warriors and he makes a good tackle i usually say...'should of just stepped him...' my mates are so sick of it...
