Australian govt funding has helped them become a financial powerhouse

That’s in a nation of only one million (v 17 million) and a super rugby grant of around 3 million pa (v 17.5 million)

“Far from being too small to survive, the Drua now bring in $F8 million ($6m) a year in sponsorship alone.

Those sponsorship deals mean their players and the brand are ubiquitous in Fiji, appearing on everything from beer to banking. At last count the Drua had 38 sponsors, and a waiting list of others wanting to join.

By their third year they were also selling about 100,000 pieces of merchandise a year, including about 10,000 Drua jerseys.“

Was recently in Fiji, was surprised to see Drua players on billboards (mainly Maccas and ANZ) all around the place and there were even standalone Drua shops- they certainly had high visibility. The sevens team also had a high level of visibility particularly in tourist shops.
Sadly only league merch I could find was some Bati jerseys and a couple of silktail jerseys at the Airport

How the club will be owned and run, interesting:

For up to the first 10 years, the NRL will share control of the board with the PNG government, who will both appoint representatives.
The new team will be owned by a conglomerate of PNG superannuation funds.

When has things being prohibited stopped people from doing those things?
Well about 12:10 today.

Saw a car stop at a red light which was just for pedestrians even though there were no pedestrians trying to cross.

Your position is that laws are utterly pointless and there has never been an instance in the history man kind where people have avoided breaking the law?

Either way back to your original pointless comment you can't have thought I was both trolling and genuinely was asking about an illegal betting market.

Lol what? There is no flow or relation to anything in post in regards to what it is applying to. It comes across as if you have a brain injury. Poor attempt at trolling.

“With senior figures from Santos, Digicel, Kumul Petroleum and K92 Mining in the room, Marape said the team would be financially supported by a "family of sponsors".

Sonk, who is the managing director of Kumul Petroleum, said the hard work would now begin.”

Get out the cheque book boys
