Guildford undertook expensive renovations for the benefit of their members before the pokie tax was proposed, not knowing that this tax would come into play.
These renovations mean Guildford has debts to pay off over the coming years and this tax has placed them in a very bad financial position.
Guildford can simply not affort to support a football side of a level such as the Jim Beam Cup and pay off their debts at the same time, hence their withdrawl from the Jim Beam Cup.
I have followed Guildford in the Jim Beam Cup all year and am very dissapointed about the withdrawl. Its a great club with a strong history and a strong community spirit.
Please all rugby league fans help getting rid of this tax. Fact is it will impact upon rugby league heavily and damage our great game to a huge extent.
Save rugby league, Axe the tax!
Guildford only recorded a net profit of $660 000 last year.Morpheus said:They also posted a $10 million pokie profit last financial year.....
blaming the govt tax for them getting rid of their league team is convenient, and grossly wrong.
