Personally I hope he stays. He is our x-factor player and I’m struggling to think of someone who we may be able to get to fill that roll if Ponga goes. Yes we will have a big chunk of money, but who would you want that would be a possibility of leaving their club and come to Newy?

Unpopular opinion coming up.

Ponga is a luxury player not a franchise player. I don't think he is the type of player to build a roster around. He isn't a Cam Smith, Cronk or Nathan Cleary. He is a State of Origin player not a grind out wins in a long season.

So.... If he goes, he goes. I don't think he was ever going to be the player to bring us a premiership. We need to find a proper franchise player. Brailey, Clifford and the Saifiti Brothers are great peices but I think we still need that special player to build around.

Prescient. No shade on you guys but imo you will get better value from a post-Melbourne Meaney as you will from Ponga. Ponga is a good player but that injury time is mounting up and you apparently don't need him to be a decent side.

Will Pryce and KPP talks will no doubt be ramping up. Having the four best backline/backrow talents in the UK won’t hurt our cause.

Well said. The club needs a million dollar return from Ponga on the field this season.

We haven’t had much return from our million dollar players the past few years.

It sounds great but you saw with Canberra how quick it can unravel.
Speculate to accumulate. Or we cry the blues and watch everyone else succeed cos we fear that it may not work out long term. We haven’t won a title in 2 decades. And have 4 spoons in between. So there is nothing to lose here.

“I’m pretty confident those talks will begin next week.”

Riccio said Dolphins officials will attend Friday night’s Knights v Sharks clash in Cronulla.

“There is a little tip around that there will be Dolphins officials at tonight’s game between the Knights and Sharks,” Riccio said.

“I’m going to keep an eye on that when I head to Shark Park tonight.”

Ponga is expected to command up to $1.3 million per season which would make him the highest-paid player in the NRL.

I'd be inclined to come in early on him, if he doesnt know now if he wants to commit to the club then pull the offer and move in another direction.

Enough with the Ponga circus.

He started his career in a blaze of glory and it's continued to plateau , honestly I doubt if Ponga will reach the heights he could. He doesnt have it in him. Mostly he's living off media hype at the moment.

If Gardner made the call on Ponga I would respect him even more. He’s taking the piss.
The problem is it's in Ponga's favour! He chooses if he wants to stay or go. We're stuck with the bloke on 1m+ for the next 2 years if he decides to stay.

It is only 1 game but that's one of the worst captain performances I've seen someone have in a Knights jersey in a real long time.

Has anyone ever seen a fullback stand a metre behind the hooker at the play the ball as much as Ponga does? I was confusing him for Randall’s shadow several times each set.
You have to ask the question, where does the coach want him? Because I don't recall being so bothered by Hoy hovering around the play the ball..

Poor Randall probably didn't get to play his natural game and just listened to where Ponga told him to throw it.

Not only that, but I swear I will go back through that game and get a screen grab of where Randall has passed the ball and as soon as the receiver has it, Ponga was in front of them... What a real threat he is with that positioning - completely out of play.

Watch closely & he is always in a position not to get the ball, he is hiding. In defence Ponga is constantly behind the play the ball in the pocket where he doesn't have to defend unless the dummy half takes off, Knights should just torch a million dollars, what a waste of space ,like a lot of limelighters these days nothing beneath the surface.
Please some clueless club buy him & put us out of our misery!
