Positional changes over origin

Carty is a lock to be picked and Moylan/Sauce likely. Who comes in? I'd give DWZ a shot at fullback....we all know Smith isn't a good option.

You reckon Cartwright is a certainty? I don't. Daley is very conservative with selections.

Given that too I don't think we'll see Moylan play either , at least not game 1. Dugan will be fullback knowing Daley.

I doubt we have one player picked. Mansour is our most likely.

Blake to centre. Hiku to wing if so. Moylan and Cartwright won't be picked. Daley doesn't want players like them. He doesn't care about scoring points. He wants 50 hitups in the opposition 20.

Alleged potential Origin game 1 side from Massoud

http://www.snappytv.com/tc/1958792/947609

1 Matt Moylan
2 Josh Mansour
3 Michael Jennings
4 Josh Dugan
5 Blake Ferguson
6 James Maloney
7 Adam Reynolds/Mitchell Pearce
8 Paul Gallen
9 Robbie Farah
10 Aaron Woods
11 Boyd Cordner
12 Josh Jackson
13 Greg Bird

14 Jack Bird/Tyrone Peachey
15 David Klemmer
16 James Tamou
17 Bryce Cartwright/Tyson Frizell

4 potential panthers. As always some wtf selections but of the Panthers players I really think only Peachey and Mansour should be there this year. Moylan's still not quite at his best yet and if Carty makes a few beginner mistakes he may never get another shot.

But I don't claim to be a strategist or anything.

Given everything Daley has said, that side couldn't be accurate. 4 or 5 rookies and. Blokes who didn't play in last years series at all is potentially 7 changes.

Yet he has said repeatedly there would be minimal changes and notmany rookies. I kinda hope our guys are snobbed. If we lost those 4players we would be f**ked.

There is only one game where we will be without Origin players, that is Round 18 against Cronulla. They'll be missing a few as well you'd think.

I hope Peta Hiku goes to fullback he played fullback for Manly occasionally.
Or DWZ goes to fullback and Josh Hall goes to the wing.

Merrin must be left out because he had a shocker in game three last year

If all four get picked which is unlikely I think we'll fair ok against Cronulla who would likely have Maloney and Gallen out. Our structure would be off but let's face it that hasn't been winning is games. We'd match then up front and have enough strike players across the park to have a good shot.

1.DWZ 2. Hiku 3. Blake 4. Yeo 5. Gennings 6. Soward 7. Wallace 8. Mckendry 9. Segeyaro 10. RCG 11. JFH 12. Grevsmuhl 13. Merrin 14. Latimore 15. Matagi 16. Latu 17. Kikau/Sopoaga/Garcia/Katoa/Cleary

To be honest I wouldnt pick Cartwright. I don't think he's ready. Too many defensive problems.

I can see why Cartwright is in contention. He has had a number of good games this season, where he has single handed set up some pretty amazing tries with his off loads and footwork. However, I agree that he also has a lot of errors in his game (still not quite knowing when he shouldn't push the pass). I don't think his defence has been that much of an issue. I can't remember him making any real howlers - it is more the ball security issues that would concern me for origin. That should improve with maturity so all in all I agree that he isn't ready this year. However, I wouldn't ultimately be surprised if they take a risk and pick him.

After all, given how many bad results we have had with NSW sides over the past 9 years, why not take a risk? He'd certainly shit all over someone like Josh Jackson (who on earth knows how ever got picked - most bog overage second rower ever to play origin).

I agree too. Still developing and he has defensive issues that need time to get ironed out. Just because NSW are desperate they shouldn't rush him.
Origin is a completely different game. Its faster and usually more brutal. Cartwright has had 2 serious injuries over the past 2 years one of which could have ended his career. Bryan Fletcher came up with a few good points a few weeks ago about throwing young players in ahead of time. It can be brutal if they are not ready.

Mansour and maybe Merrin our only selections (both easily covered). Mansour should be the first guy picked. He has in the past had issues with his positioning in defence but this year has fixed it. Souths must be looking at him as the one that got away.

If we are embarrassed in game 1 then maybe someone like Cartwright or Peachy (??) comes into contention for some strike power, though I agree that Cartwright needs to work on his defence. The guy will be a superstar for many years, just doesn't have to start this year.

TBH - Coote has done more than Moylan and is now ahead of him.

I really hope we pick attacking players and play more open footy, but not holding my breath.

Cootes been playing well but I'm always wary of players who suddenly look like guns when playing alongside JT. Moylans been running the show for us and is a much better player than Coote imo. That said I'd be (selfishly) happy for him to focus on Penrith over the rep period.

Why do you say that? Moylans played roughly half the amount of minutes as Coote so far this year and has 1 less try(Coote 2, Moylan 1) and 2 less try assists(Coote 7, Moylan 5). On average he is bettering Coote in both those areas, he runs for 30 more metres a game. He also has 8 more offloads then Coote does. The miss tackle average goes to Coote but only slightly which surprised me, I think Cootes a better defender than that. Coote has 3 linebreaks to Moylans 1.

Overall considering that Moylans played a bit over half the minutes Coote has and considering the team Coote is playing for is a class above iI don't see how Coote has done more. I think if Moylan had played the whole season he would comfortably be beating Coote in every attacking Stat that counts, and that is coming off a long lay off. You can see the impact he had on our team, how much better we looked with him so it isn't just stats.

Ive got no idea who is ahead of the other but imo Moylan should be ahead of Coote.

Coote was always first picked for the junior rep teams, ahead of the likes of Dugan, but injuries set him back. He was a gun for us in 2010, scoring loads of tries off Luke Walsh kicks. There's nothing sudden about him, although I'd have to agree he's in the form of his life this season.

Coote is a great player but imo he would not be having the same impact as Moylan if Coote was still our FB. He gets to play off JT and Morgan and behind the best forward pack in the game, Moylan in that situation would be amazing.
