Looking through old footy mags and reading books both old and new ....it is appears to me that RL in country Qld has taken more hits than achieved more milestones.
The demise of the Foley Shield, the loss of the Carlton Cup (the afterthought of the Bulimba Cup featuring South Qld regions); no more Country Cups with individual regions represented (apart from NQ) and the disappearance of a lot local derbies such as Toowoomba v Ipswich; or Toowoomba v Wide Bay.
Of course on the flip side, locals in many areas are now able to see live action of arguably the 2nd best comp in the country with the ISC being a great success in the regions.
Happy to hear others thoughts on the ups and downs of bush footy in recent times ?
