Thank God I didn’t watch the game. Had a great night out. Just saw the highlights and there’s a reason why we will contend for the spoon again this season and that because of all the reserve grade players we still have in the team, Taka, Jennings, Hoffman etc etc substandard
Mid table at midpoint of comp = we’ll compete for spoon.
Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not an optimistic SOB

Hoffman and Jennings (I assume you mean George) are reserve grade players...which is why they have spent most of the year in reserve grade. They are only in FG this week due to injuries and suspension. Did you expect anyone other than reserve graders to be put into the team when our best players are unavailable?

Jennings and Hoffman are in the team because Jennings and Sivo are unavailable. Takairangi was actually decent tonight.

What a f**king stupid and dumb football team we are.

We had defended so well and held them out and Gennings goes and throws that low percentage pass out of our own end, wtf?

Every time we turned them away and defended well, the next set we go and drop it and invite all that pressure back on us needlessly. It's like they don't want to win.

And the thing that is starting to become very apparent and alarming is why does every away game end up the same? Lack of possession, Non stop on line defence, Awful middle defence, Getting destroyed in the ruck, Letting the other team roll through us, No slowing the play the ball down? Every f**king game that is away plays out the same. Why is that the case? That just shows how deep our issues run, we cannot turn the tide, we cannot stem the flow and we simply do not know how to win, we know how to lose and we do it well.

We are a f**king dumb dumb dumb football team, no other team would have lost that like we did, because let's be clear, the Cowboys were terrible.

We are shot and we do not have the mental capacity or strength to bounce back, it's within our DNA and it's coming through again now.

They gave me hope for 9 weeks, but like Parra always do, they turn to shit.

Yes i maybe going on or going into meltdown, but it's the truth it always ends the same with us.

This game again showed we have learnt very little from the other losses this year. Slow starts, unforced errors, lack of enthusiasm, very poor bench rotation and woeful ruck defense.
It's like watching the same movie over and over again and knowing how it ends.
A number of games now Mahoney is so heavily targetted he starts missing tackles. Mahoney will be a top first grader but he is still learning his trade in 1st grade.
This also takes away from his running game which we know can be quite good.
Its time we had Mcillwrick or another player to sub reedy for 20 or so minutes and i dont mean at the start of the game.
Until we tighten the ruck defense up and maintain line speed for the duration of the game, the blueprint the raiders and knights used against us will continue.
The quicker both browns come back the better.
I'm not against will smith subbing reed but the 1 hooker for now must stop.
Yes the George Jennings pass was conpletely unnecessary but that's what happens when you're losing the arm wrestle...
I could say a lot more but it becomes a little exasperating explaining and discussing the Eels away from home form..

Hmm.. just watched the game and can’t believe we lost. Unlike most here I’m not going to bag off the team tonight as I thought they put in a better effort.
Yes we still have some dumb plays in us but we really should have won that.
The concerns for me are:
Ruck- we will never be contenders until we work out how other teams smother us but seem to get quick play the balls themselves. It was chalk n cheese watching the Cowboys hit it up compared to us.
Kicks- I’m not fussed if we resign Moses or not. We need a better half with a more rounded kicking game. Or he needs to come up with something better than “bomb it & hope for the best”
If we persist in bombing it we need more pressure on the receiver.
Stripping - What Nth Qld did tonight was next level. They were blatantly stripping the ball with 2 in a tackle but had the awareness to have the non stripper bail as the ball was won. For mine it was a penalty every time but a precedent has been sent as they got away with it.

I also think that Cowboys quarterback ( Granville) gains them an extra metre or two every play. Was very Stormish like.

Hopefully BA can go sit the team down and show them how other sides are getting those “extras” out of the game.

As I said I thought our effort was better and bar the Jennings/Fergo debacle we would have won for mine.

Agree about the fwd passes. I thought at least 6 should have been pulled up.
Also agree massively on moses kicking game.
Either make it rain with the bombs or kick into touch. The half bomb/half chips are a waste of fkn time. Just giving them catching practice.

We are getting let down consistently by mediocre and mentally dumb players who would never start in any other NRL side. Taka, Terepo and this time George Jennings.

Yet Arthur still picks them. I can cop it from rookies but not these guys and Arthur keeps picking them.

Ferguson and Moses have also gone off the boil. Moses’ kicking game was diabolical. All he had to do was kick to the corners but he kept putting up bombs. He is a flash in the pan and I don’t think he is the answer and deep down I’m hoping he goes. Dylan Brown in 3 games showed more composure than he has in his career. Alvaro has also regressed this year and I’d be looking to flip him for a better prop. I’m thinking Penrith may have a garage sale soon.

On a positive note, Mahoney continues to impress. We really missed Sivo today and Nathan Brown cannot come back soon enough.

Get off the fence and say what you really think about Arthur!

Re the stripping rule: it’s not a precedent that was set, they changed the rule. And it’s a good change. It is not a penalty. If there is only one left in the tackle you can strip the ball. Weak merkins need to show some strength and a bit of will to want to maintain possession. It was embarrassing that it happened to us twice. Embarrassing but not surprising.

Decent is not good enough. He is a reserve grader. Actually the type of player he is and the other substandard players like him in the team reflects where we are at on the table.

Just saw stats.
Considering 40% possesion eels did ok
And up in Nqld.
They are a good side. They had been missing JT for most the season.
We had 4 normal starters out.

I picked it a month ago I would be worried we lose 4 in row. But we beat Dragons and I think we will do Penrith.
2/4 would be ok.

You cant have a starting prop who makes under 100mtrs. Alvaro is in woefull form. Last season he was always pushing around 120mtrs and 40 tackles. Unsure what is wrong but he is a problem.

I thought we were no better than last week, the Cows offered almost zero. Our ruck defence, line speed, wrestle are hopeless.

Watch us play Penrith back into form on Thursday.

Yep, Penrith will destroy us next week. Newcastle, Nth Qld are games we should have won. Those teams are shit and we’ve struggled against them. Apart from some reserve grade type player in the team. I blame the coach and thing is we’ve got him for another two years.

And we were only slightly better against St George even though we won.
We have gone all in when we clearly needed change. As supporters we will, as always, back up as long as we draw breath. Thats a given. We live in hope but most of us are realists.
Another failed year from an average team. Poor defence, poor chase, and mid field bombs will never transform our team. Very hard to see success when we show no improvement year to year regardless of who wears the B&G. BAs presser probably says it all.
Go Parra.

So we should keep NRL quality players in NSW cup for when there is an injury?
That sure is a way to f**k your cap. MJ and Sivo where missing. These where the back ups. Maybe he could of chose Bevan instead but that's good in hindsight. GJ played well last season.

Alvaro will alway be a substandard front rower. Not really physical enough or big enough to make an impact. Gets dominated in tackles. He’s attitude is awesome but physically he can’t bend the line at all.

Agree. I can only repeat myself but him and Mannah shouldnt be in same team.
We need a bruiser. An enforcer. A merkin.
Our pack might be bigger then before but it's still a pack of softies.

You know you have low standards when you say GJ was good last season. GJ is a substandard player. Hence why we won the SPOON last year and will go close again this season. It’s not GJ fault alone he has his shit friends who are mentally weak in the team as well. And then there’s the coach who is responsible for the result yesterday. Just not good enough
