It's a regular problem. At least 1 guy in the tackle gets himself into a shit position and is scattered around/behind the ruck unable to get into marker. It is 100% a wrestle technique problem
Or is it a first contact problem? Or not enough numbers in the tackle problem? Let's not pretend we know what the problem is just from watching the game once.

Is there a reason Kidwell wasn’t with the Storm when we picked him up? I know he was briefly the Kiwi coach and an assistant with the Tigers but the fact he wasn’t with the Storm should probably tell us plenty.......our defence has not improved under him at all.

That’s a massive stab in the dark if I have ever seen one. I know we all look for a scapegoat, but to infer that maybe Storm let him go because he wasn’t up to it as a defensive coach ? I don’t know him from a bar of soap, but you played that blame card as others did for AFL guy.

Nah, that’s just an unavoidable result of making first contact apparently.

So you don't blame the defensive coach for our poor defense? Who do you blame the Catholic Church? EL Nino?

Well you can also surmise from previous games like the knights. There was a first contact problem, out enthused problem, line speed problem. True there is a chicken or egg question...but it all comes back to getting out enthused plus having inferior technique both of which is all on BA and whoever his defensive coach is. I just hope BA is getting a wooden spoon wage this season and the next two seasons with some incentives for him to become competent.

I havent read all this ... just bits and pieces ...

We f**ked up royally handing over way too much possession.

I thought we defended well considering ... but we were so badly on the backfoot cos of the possession issue.

People are bagging the selection of gennings and Hoffman .... well who the f**k else should have played?

i thought Hoffman went ok. Gennings, omfg - my neighbours know my feelings towards him right now. Will Smith also went ok, his defense is quite ok for a half.

Our entire left side was reserve grade. We had no choice. Who else should have been picked?

It doesn't matter how much he's getting paid because it doesn't count against the cap.

How about a lack of good defensive players? If it was all down to the coach, clubs wouldn't bother recruiting.

Surely the coaching staff is in charge of the recruitment of players. I mean at successful clubs at least.
I realise the question of how much a player gets offered is an extra layer of decision making but the club makes offers to the players the head coach wants right? So if thats true the roster is on BA.

It matters in terms of the clubs preparedness to fire him. This club squeezes pennies. If we are paying him a lot they will not cut him when he deserves it. If they are paying him hardly any they may be way more prepared to cut him if a decent option comes up.

We had the worst attacking team in the comp last year, so brought in some attacking players. It's a balancing act, and the downside for a club stuck with the salary cap is that when they recruit attackers their defence degrades.

10000%, our stupidity and lack of respect for the ball is why we kept turning the ball over, after turning them away numerous times.

Why is every away game the same trend? Every game we play away we do it to ourselves, no possession and countless sets on our own line. Our attitude and mentality sucks.

Much like players, the Storm don't lose assistants they want to keep unless they are getting promoted. He went sideways to the Tigers.

Sure, it is a stab but also i'm just curious if he is the right guy? Our first up contact is atrocious, like worse than under 12's and has been on the decline the longer he is here. Surely the defensive coach should be held responsible for that? The fundamentals seems to be lacking big time.

But if you'd like to blame climate change for it i guess we can do that?

Is it just me or do others hate the way they have changed the 2 man strip ruling?

You can put a heap of merkins in the tackle, start dislodging the ball while they are all in there, then all drop off and strip the ball within 5 milliseconds and its play on ..... i just think its a horseshit rule change for the sake of making a change.
