First Robbo had a great game , set up a try and defended like a back rower. Robbo fits into the sides structure nicely

Prince had a great game always looked dangerous, he is a true half back. Gee if we had a "Prince" style half in our side we would be unbeatable.

There was a few moments in the first 20 of the first and 2nd half when if we had a player like Prince they would have taken control anbd got us out of trouble.

Gee we are lucky our defence is so good.

Prince has been out of form for a while. His kicking game has been off and is forever turning to it back inside to the forwards. I don't know what the Titans were thinking early in the 2nd half where they were on attack, but never gave it to the backs.

If we had Prince in our side, we'd win the competition. No disrespect to Robbo, who is a champion but not the best player...but even out of form Prince looked easily as dangerous and comfortably moreso IMO

I agree he was little poor with his options but he got them about 3-4 link kick outs. But what when he had the ball in his hand he looked dangerous - maybe he made a few mistakes or took a few options but he was dangerous.

Our attack is build on individual brillance - which is going great at the moment but we don't have some one to take control

What people forget about Prince-style, Thurston-style and Tim Smith-style half backs is that while more naturally talented, they are also more high risk. When they're good, they're very very good, but when they're bad...

The good thing about how we're playing is that EVERYONE is playing their part and playing for each other. We're not sitting back and relying on a star halfback to get us out of trouble, like the lazy Titans seemed to. That backfired big time, and I'm glad we're not in the same boat.

Couldn't agree more. Robo is perfect for our team, only lacks a long kicking game but who cares when Hayne and El-Burto can pull off magic 40/20's. Robo's defence is highly underated. I wouldn't swap him for any halfback at the moment.

Yeah, though Robson gives his all that's the only position we don't measure up in. We still may but as you say, with Prince we'd win the comp for sure.

Mate I dunno what game you saw, but robbo had a pretty crap game. Lets get the fact straight. His a half-back. His suppose to set up plays and he didnt do crap tonite. Sure his a great defender, probably the best DEFENDINNG half back in the comp. However, he offers nothing in attack. He kicking game was terrible, every kick he did full back got it on full. Should have pass wider, but didn't. So frustrating seeing him play as a half-back.

I agree totally with you. My only concern is if we are down let's say 16 to 8, we MAY not have the player to control the game - we definitely have the brillance to score the points.

Anyone I only wanted to give some credit to Prince who I think had a pretty good game.

Gee it feels good to be a eels supporter :):)

I was very close to the action tonight and you really notice the contribution that Robson makes to this side. His defence along with Ben Smith's is amazing. Lowrie also had a great game.

You must of missed the kick that put Benny over, i admit his attack isn't the greatest he came up against a super player like Prince and he more than held his own. He did lose his halves partner in Morts early on.

I agree watching tonights game Robbo showed again he is a great defender. I didn't want to just this thread as a Robbo bash feast, as he has suprised me greatly. He fits into the eels game structure nicely.

This is a very different team structure than we have seen and been used to with dominating controlling halfbacks like Langer, Johns, Prince, Thurston etc. The Eels have Cayless, Moi Moi, Hindmarsh, Lowrie, Mateo, Hayne, Burt, etc, etc, all able under pressure to put players through gaps anywhere at anytime under any circumstance during a game.

You have to get it out of your head wishing we had a Prince type player playing halfback for the Eels right now. If we did, the whole team structure would change particularly in defense with the loss of Robson who is a brilliant 80 minute perpetual motion defender and link-man, covering either side of the ruck, up the middle and out wide. Its this kind of passion and enthusiasm Robson brings to the team that has them now be mentally tough.

Prince is not able to do this, bring a mental toughness in for the Titans....... well at least this year.

As mentioned in a few other occasions the Eels will not win the GF without Robson. They will find it a huge challenge to overcome, not impossible but gees we do not have another 7 that can do what Robson does in this present team structure.

Enjoy the Eels team structure for what it is this year. You are watching the winner of this years GF.

He had a pretty good game from what I saw. Basically had to change the game plan after Morts went down, so he had a lot more of the distribution duties.

I thought that was Robsons best game in first grade, kicking game was spot on. came up with some nice saves in defence when titans kicked the ball on the attack.

he had a solid game with distribution, a less than avg kicking game and an exceptional game defensively as always. A few points;

1. If we had a hb like Prince, Thurston etc we wouldn't have the likes of Hayne, Hindy, Mateo etc. who are star players in diff positions.

2. We have shown that we don't need sublime halves to be premiership winning material, we have some brilliant individuals across the park playing in 1, 10, 11, 15 (tonight) who would demand large contracts elsewhere.

3. Solid players like robson are necessary, our team is built around it. The likes of Reddy, B Smith, Lowrie had blinders today. However people usually look over this fact for other positions due to again the tradition thinking that we need champion halves.

4. Our defence tonight was amazing across the park, especially from the less hyped players. These same players stick to structures and do the little things so well that we can capitalise on this through individual efforts (which also tends to rub off on the whole team.) Under DA, i feel like we are almost as formidable as Melb under Bellamy due to the same reasons. If you look at melb, they also have overacheiving individuals which set the platform for Slater, Inglis, Cam Smith etc.
