Having seen what Souths have been through, what are your thoughts on privatising our club?

If a multi-millionaire offered to buy Parra (lets just say for $25m) which assured the future of the club, guaranteed the colours and logo wont change and guarantees the club won't relocate - would you as a member vote yes for it??

It would obviously depend on the individual involved, but lets assume it was a well known and well respected person.

Thoughts??

Hmm... We arent in dire need. Souths were. If out circumstances changed which may force us to merge or even be kicked out Id be all for it.

Clubs need to find a new way of raising money that doesn't involve Leagues Club funding as it's main source. If a person was to offer that sort of money to privatise the Eels then it would be silly not to seriously consider it. Provided they presented a business plan that would detail the steps they want to follow and allow input from the member base than I'd be more than happy.

in saying all that, if someone offers 25mil, you'd just accept it than give us a business plan later.. [maybe not , post: -) "], however,no sporting club in Australia is worth 25mil..

Steelers have received 6.5 million as their quarter share from WIN Corp. ;-)

Merchandising alone, provided it was up to the club as opposed to the NRL, would be worth a packet to a club like the Eels.

If it were presented as proffesionally as Peter Holmes and Russell Crowe then i would certainly give it serious consideration cause that was impressive and i do not know what the hell is wrong with the Souths members who voted no!!

There were less than a thousand that did vote no. Tradition is a big part of Rugby League and you would find a similar reaction from many Parramatta fans to privitisation......

The 25mil was just plucked out of the air. What if it was 10 million and Dennis advised members to vote yes for it !!

It was to clear a debt from the Steelers. It has landed 6.5 million in the Dragons coffers though.

They'd need to be very convincing at that sort of money. We are much better off currently than what the Rabbits are.

if FP's proposal was basicaly the same, ie: 75% of managarial rights...then you'd be silly..no foolish...no freaking stupid, not to accept it.

at 3 million Souths got an excellent deal, especially with the Crowes profile and PHC's corporate connections in the business world.

They will be sh*thot within 3 years, mark my words..;-)

well it would depend on the person or people at hand wishing to purchase this fine club.
the crowe and holmes acourt was a good option. both fans, both have $$ and a good public profile...

if it were a dirty business i wouldnt vote yes...

providing they can assure us of great things it would then be a yes

I agree, 10mil is slightly less attractive but seriously tempting.
