You'd better kidnap Hayne back.
Too late, would have been on the NFL roids program. He would blow the bag.

What about Moylan? What about Whare? What about that Blake kid you all go on about? I assume from the hype coming from the Penrith camp he would be perfectly suited to the 9s...
Matt Moylan played last year and was pretty average. Josh Mansour, Jamie Soward, Sam McKendry etc. all played too and it was guys like George Jennings and Isaah Yeo who stood out the most. Both are playing this year.
If players are genuinely injured or recovering from surgery then of course they shouldn't participate. However I cannot imagine that any of those players selected in the Penrith squad would be anywhere near their top 5 paid players and as a result if someone like Moylan for example can particiapte (he did not play one minute in the Four Nations) then he should. It's not fair that some clubs can recognise that people have put a lot of money into this in hopes of growing the game and send over decent squads and risk injury while others think they're above adhering to the criteria. You can't have some clubs going to the effort to promote the game and others only caring for their own interests.
Matt Moylan was involved in the Four Nations and trained along with everyone else. Just as with all Four Nations players, he came back to training later then other players and as a result is further behind in training. Playing in the 9's, and then again in the All Stars match would mean he has started his pre-season late, and had a couple of weeks wasted preparing for teams that have nothing to do with the NRL season or the Panthers. We might have risked him if he wasn't playing in the All Stars game, but why would we risk him in both games?
The 9s is a great concept and has real potential to showcase the skills of our players (which is something we don't always see in the regular season due to the emphasis on the wrestle, error free footy, etc). However punishment of clubs not meeting the criteria isn't the answer. We need clubs to send over their skillful players because they want to in hopes of growing the game. We don't want it to turn into City/Country where certain clubs see it as a punishment and consistently make a mockery of the game by not letting their players participate.
Unlike the City vs Country game, the mould for what makes a good take isn't necessarily set in stone. You say a team should send over their best players, but the best players in an NRL side might not be the best in this game.
Also, what makes you think Matt Moylan is in the Panthers top 5 paid players? I would imagine that the likes of Jamal Idris, Jamie Soward, Lewis Brown, Elijah Taylor, Sika Manu and Brent Kite all signed on reasonable money, and that the likes of James Segeyaro, Dean Whare, Josh Mansour, Sam McKendry etc. have all re-signed on reasonable money aswell.
Sika Manu could very well be in our top 5 paid players. He was a pretty big signing when we got him from the Storm. I'd guarantee he is in our top 5 earners from the players who are available.
You are the idiot, you south sea island pommy. Worrying about a weekends 9s tourney. Half the crowd go to get on the soup and party, a weekend away.
If there are rules than let the tournament officials invoke the agreed punishment. Not YOU.
As said, get a life.
Ok I'll make it easy for you. Find one piece of promotion the company promoting this event has done for Rugby League that wasn't directly related to this tournament. Just 1. If you can find it I will concede that they are doing this to grow the game. If you can't find it, I will just have to continue to believe that they are doing this to line their own pockets.
So you don't care how your side goes, but are happy to risk your star players?
What are you even talking about now? They are doing something for Rugby League by promoting the tournament. Like I said, couldn't really care less what their motivations are it's good for the game either way. You're just trying to find reasons to dismiss promotion of the game. Sad really.
Nobody is "happy" to risk their players but I think a lot of fans can also understand that sometimes you need to take risks for the good of showcasing the game. I wouldn't expect my club to be any exception to that or the set criteria.

No you don't. We aren't communists.
What is best for the game of rugby league is the strongest and most professional NRL competition possible. That is the NRL and participating clubs role. Not ancillary comps, or rep footy, or sideways promotions. There are other committees, competitions and teams for other stuff.
NRL participants should worry about the NRL . Get that right and growing and the rest falls into place.
Nines is a great concept and I hope it continues to thrive and grow. I'm fine with the Warriors picking the likes of Manu, SJ, Tomkins etc. It's great to see them with extra space to move.
In future I'd like to see it move away from the 16 clubs if possible (imagine that club vs country fight), and as I previously mentioned, it should be played after trials before the season starts not first up.[/QUOTE]
Not a bad idea, a week or two before the start of the season (after the trials) and make it a gala weekend - an open comp plus and U20s comp for all 16 NRL clubs.

And here is the kicker. The melbourne cup type prize-money.
If you hold a pre-season,,, 3 weekend nines spectacular,,,, for 3 different cities over 3 weeks,,, each year, you then turn 5 million prize-money into 15 million.
Fake me, am i the only one who can think on this faking forum.
Where is me get basket, i am outta here. Take me ideas to union, soccer, or god-save-me, AFL.
You guys just dont want to hear good faking ideas. I am convinced, it is like banging your faking head against a brick faking wall.
I also think with trials you see weak teams in the opening trial and then gradually the teams get stronger until close to the strongest side plays the final trial before the season starts.
Having the Nines last before the season starts give players an extra break, and being the last hit out before the season they may find the prospect more enticing, especially if they've had a 20-30 minute stint the previous week to get back into the swing of things.
I think you should probably take your opinions to an AFL dedicated forum and never come back here. They will appreciate you way more.
We are all just dumb dumbs in here.
For punishment they should be forced to read this thread full of whining muppets.
