Queensland Guineas field
Historically the Queensland Guineas is one of the better future form races of the Queensland winter carnival with recent winners like True Glo and Winning Belle going onto bigger and better things.
This year’s running of the race will will see a field of 19 face the starter over the mile trip at Eagle Farm on Monday.
Of the local horse the best chances appear to be the Bryan Guy-trained Grecolo who has drawn mid-pack in barrier 11 and Gerald Ryan’s Catbird gelding Rumbird who has drawn barrier 2.
Of the interstate raiders it appears the New South Wales three-year-olds will play the biggest hand in the finish.
Group One winner Fashions Afield has drawn barrier 15 making it anything but a put in take out job. The race is traditionally run at a cracking pace and from her wide draw Fashions Afield could have problems getting across to get a favourable run.
The Gary Portelli-trained Letter Of Intent has drawn perfectly in barrier 6 and will be ridden by Australia’s premier jockey Darren Beadman.
Century Serb will line up for the fifth time in the last six weeks and while he must be a question mark over 1600m, his form does read stronger than most of his rivals and is in well at set weights.
