Queensland have changed tact opting to go with a full senior squad in place of the Emerging Origin Camps. As a result, they've invited five less players into the set up, but they've potentially made the transition into the rep camp smoother.

A lot of the uncapped players have been around the squad in some form or fashion. Brimson, Feldt, Friend, Sami and Su'A already have an Emerging Camp under their belts, while Capewell was drafted in as a reserve in last year's series. That leaves Thomas Flegler, Corey Horsburgh, Reed Mahoney and Ronaldo Mulitalo as the genuine fresh faces of the camp.

The biggest surprise for me was the amount of players invited back from last year's campaign. I would have thought quite a few would have been ignored as Queensland try to go in a new direction after successive defeats.

Frank Molo glaring omission.

He can certainly count himself unlucky. He had a really strong end to the season and it isn't like he's a stranger to the Queensland rep system. If he can continue to improve, I'm sure he'll work his way into selection like Ethan Lowe did last series.

Again, I'm surprised by some of the props named in front of him. I can understand Flegler and Horsburgh with a view to the future but some others who had their opportunity should be made to wait at the back of the queue.

Whilst the backs are looking dry the young forwards QLD have coming through look very promising:

8. Papalli
9. Friend
10. Flegler
11. Kaufusi
12. Fifita
13. Arrow

14. Carrigan
15. Mikaele
16. Horsburgh

edit just realised I totally forgot McGuire! Would obviously find a spot for him somewhere

Certainly more youthful the NSW pack which will have the likes of Klemmer, Cook, Cordner, Frizzell, Graham, Finnucane, Simms, Vaughan where only 1 is under 28. Cam Murray and Payne Haas are the only guys under 26 who look certainties.

You’d hope the old firm of Wallace, Glasby, Lowe, Cooper and potentially even Napa are well and truly forgotten.

NSW still boast the likes of Jake Trbojevic, who will be a certainty, Daniel Saifiti, Matt Lodge, Victor Radley and Tevita Pangai Jr if he decides to commit to NSW.

Jakes 26, so yes will be around for a while but not the next decade like a lot of the Maroon’s potentially will be.

Personally I don’t think Saifiti, Lodge and Radley are as good as the QLD forwards mentioned

TPJ would be well behind Murray, Jake T and Frizell. Comes up with some very poor penalties. Would need to drop that to get seriously considered. I would still pick players who are 100% commited. Tevita seems to lean more towards a Tonga.

Feel like you're really underrating some of the NSW young forwards, not everyone can be Payne Haas or Cameron Murray. Saifiti is already an origin winner, having been introduced when NSW were really up against it and stood tall. Lodge has been on the cusp of selection for a season or two now. Radley is a hitman, looks made to do some damage in origin.

What's your opinion on Stefano Utoikamanu and Spencer Leniu?

If Safiti , Radley and Lodge are the best NSW have then I hope Tedesco and Cook play forever.

Sorry unless there’s major improvement in these guys and in 3/4 years we have a pack of say:

8. Safiti
9.
10. Haas
11. Murray
12. TPJ
13. Radley

Then QLD should shit Origin in

Was a fan, but his defence has been poor in origin
