holmes is a better player.

selecting Oates again is like NSW selecting BMorris again when it's obvious NSW have better players to play on the wing.

besides, although Oates didn't too much wrong, he was largely nullified throughout the match by NSW tactical kicking. He couldn't help out on 2nd or 3rd tackles as a winger should.

Boyd normally runs it back for the Broncos and Oates would likely take the next carry if it's close to his side of the field. Oates can't stand up the defence on a return and he provided no challenge for NSW chase defence in Game 1. NSW also prevented any return impact Boyd could have, and any '6th' forward carries Oates could provide.

Now, QLD willll have 3 players at the back who will be effective returners. The weakness of Oates here is gone.

I agree Holmes is better I'm not saying he is a bad selection by any means but 3 weeks they went with Oates for whatever reason and he did the job and was one their best and they've dropped him for a guy in a similar stage of his career.

Anyway it just seems desperate to me despite the reasons.

It's like talking to a brick wall sometimes on this forum.

Fact - QLD loyalty is a myth. They will drop anyone if it will make them better.

Ask Oates, Thaiday, Harrison and plenty more.

You can carry on with your cool stories about some guy who used to post in the Knights section and the amount of players that NSW have used, but since they're not relevant to this discussion don't expect a reply.

'Dodged questions' LOL!

How many players did NSW use from 06 onwards SSS?

You really don't want to post that list do you.

Back under ya rock.

Why didn't QLD make the changes they have now mafe before Game 1?

You don't want to answer that question do you.

Stetson = under a rock for the last decade. Dodging questions. Soft.

Or you could respond to the 2 questions you keep dodging.

Why so reluctant?

Back under ya rock Stetson.

so you're advocating they take the approach of selections as they did for game 1? most folks were saying that they erred in game 1 selections. they basically just selected the players that were there last series, purely because they won last series.

you're conveniently overlooking how NSW targeted Oates. he didn't make any obvious mistakes, but targeting him for kick returns ensured that QLD weakest returner continually brought the ball back, and wearing him down made him redundant and weakened the QLD ability to generate any momentum in the second half.

this is the team that should be there. slater should always have been there. holmes should always have been there. forwards needed new blood. how you can debate that if you had the option to select Holmes or Oates again, you'd still select Oates is baffling.

The amount of players NSW has used is irrelevant to QLD "loyalty".

QLD have continually bagged NSW for making changes to their side over the past decade have they not?

you're - not your

The point is that a few in here are totally unaware of the criticisms placed on NSW from QLDers. Some LU users have obviously been under a rock for a decade and just found an interest in RL the past year or so. One of the main criticisms QLD have had of NSW is that they failed to copy what QLD have done so well with their selection policy the past decade or so.

If Stetson would list the players NSW has used the past decade he would get an idea of why the QLDers have been critical of NSW employing the opposite selection policy to them.

C'mon Stetson, paste the list of NSW players since '06.

Why didn't QLD make the changes they have for Game 2 before this series kicked off?

2006:

197. Eric Grothe, Jr. 2006 Game 1
198. Luke O'Donnell 2006 Game 1
199. Paul Gallen 2006 Game 3

As for your question about QLD that should be obvious. They remained loyal to success. They were fielding one of the best teams to ever step on the field. I keep saying that the change this year is a matter of time not disloyalty. Age was always going to get them eventually.

Ah loyalty. Yes it is obvious to most of us. Not to those who've missed the QLD mantra spewing from north of the boarder for over a decade.

Clap, clap, clap.

Well done.

I can't tell whether that's serious or condescension? Did you get what you wanted out of the list?

Mate sounds like you've really eaten up this loyalty crap spewed forth from qld media, to me that includes players and coaches involved with the qld team, it's all part of drumming up theatre and attention to get more people watching the game.
Yes there's people on here that have harped on about qld loyalty but I've always viewed it as trolling to be honest, us qlders can turn on a player we view as underperforming or playing out of position with the best of em, just ask Cherry Evans, Dave Taylor, Carl Webb, Locky, Petero, Price after game 1 06, Myles the last couple of years, Boyd at fullback over Slater, Slater at fullback over Inglis at times, Shillington, Neilson, O'Neil, the list goes on and on as it would on the NSW side of things.
I've said it and I'll say it again, our qld team appears as loyal and gets away with saying it (especially when where winning) because we usually have a complete lack of depth compared to NSW, a case of who else we gonna pick more often than blind loyalty.
