Question for the Storm fans

I have noticed many of you Storm fans in our forum over the last couple of days. Congratulations on your win over Parra. Its good to have a bit of friendly banter with opposition fans but many of you have come in here and gone over the top with your abusive comments.

My question to you is how did you become a Storm fan? As the Storm only came in in 98 my guess is you are either a Johnny come lately supporter or you were once a fan of another team but you jumped on the Storm bandwagon.

So which one are you?

I don't think it's been too bad? Sure, Stormer's a knob, and LESstar sometimes gets too hyperactive, but apart from that I think most Storm fans in here have been OK, before and after the game.

Nothing wrong with a bit of good natured gee-up between fans!

The storm give away 8000 free tickets to every game therefore they have at least 8k turn up to every game.

Jake, would love to know how many of the Eels supporters are members and I don't mean of the Leagues Club, I mean of the football club.

Storm have just under 7,000 members who pay up to $1700 a year, most pay an average of $200. This gives them entry into every home game.

Oh, hows that RECORDED CROWD noise going, that is some WE don't need in Melbourne, even with a small crowd :)

Football club member? Huh? What's that forgot to do with anything?

Sounds like you lot had to give tickets away to members. We SELL season tikets to the general public. And we are not a stand alone club in a city of 3 million, who are propped up solely by News Ltd!

Fair dinkim - a SOLE team in the 'sporting capital of Australia' and you STILL have to be propped up by sugardaddy Rupert! Maybe things will change when you ove to the Gold Coast!

BTW the Eels NRL side are owned by the Leagues Club not the Football Club so it doesn't really matter who is a member of the football club. There are around 2000 in the Football Club but that encompasses the PL, JF and younger grades.

Can't say I blame you for that. There should be more of it down there.

I lost the greatest AFL Stadium in Waverly Park. and then the storm came along. I still support my Bombers but i rather go to a Storm game than a AFL game.

Hi Chemical - thought you were a Sharkies fan? ;-)

Nice to see a Bombers follower as well. BUt the NRL is the real game, as we both know.

Do the Storm get much coverage down there?

My point about members of the Football Club is that unlike many clubs in NSW that are owned by their Leagues Club the government down here wont allow a sporting club to be set up in the same way. They also have capped the number of pokies down here so a sporting club (of any sort) that doesn't have pokies doesn't have revenue.

Storm was set up so that those that become members of the club are season ticket holders (like what the Roosters have set up recently) there for considering we have just under 7000 members we aren't doing to bad.

Parramatta, of which I'm also a member due to family having played and coached them, should have a high membership base and ground attendance going on some Eels argument. (Denis being one of them).

Sure Storm was born due to Super League, so what, Super League is over, it's passed, the fact of the matter is Rugby League is in Melbourne and it needs to be supported, which it is not.

Storm get NO coverage at all (unless something bad happens). The League reporter for the News Ltd paper (Herald Sun) down here has to fight his editor all the time just to get any sort of coverage for League period.

There is NO radio coverage of games and the three spots that Storm gets on SEN Sports Radio is paid for by the club (not the NRL, ARL or anyone else).

No doubt you would have seen our dickhead premier after the Friday night game a couple of weeks ago on Channel Nine. He's comments of 'I think of been to 3 or 4 games' shows the governments committment to the greatest game in the country, none.

Also add the fact that there hasn't been one TV commerical promoting Rugby League in Victoria at a decent time for 7 years shows you how dedicated some are to the game they say they love.

Storm supporters get sick and tired of trying to promote the game of League to people down here when all we here from a small bunch of ego driven Sydney media people that Rugby League will be re-locating from Melbourne to the C.C. or G.C. and because your Denis the mence has the biggest mouth on this issue, eels supporters and their forums will also be targeted by storm supporters.

Well, if yo0u are going to say 'get over Super League, I say, 'Get over Denis'. Reason? John Ribot and Super League has caused the game more damage than Fitzy ever will. There IS a movement up here to relocate Melbourne - something I don't agree in - because of the poor performance down there. If Melbourne is getting a raw deal press wise, then it needs to be resolved by the Storm and the NRL, and Fitzy shouldn't come into it.

John Ribot doesn't have many friends in Sydney. You need to consider what he did to the code worldwide to appreiate that. And he is his own worst enemy - there is no junior development in Melbourne that the ARLA doesn't do - in fact I believe the Storm don't contribute anything! To establised clubs in Sydney who contribute plenty to maintain their juniors, it's a disgrace.

I sincerely hope Melbourne can overcome those hurdles and thrive.
