Well here we are our first game day of 2026 I am wearing the colours proudly! It has been a big off season and it’ll now be great to see some footy. This is our first hit out so it’s not our full strength side but we still have some first graders playing and we get to see plenty of our young up and comers who will be pushing for first grade spots throughout the year. I think this is the 43rd Charity Shield it’s always hotly contested and feels like the start to the season. Feels slightly different this year though as it’s usually our second trial match but with the Dragons not to be this year!
Looking at the Dragons they are close to full strength it’s their second hit out they’ll be looking to put the final pieces together before Vegas so we have a big challenge ahead of us. For us I am looking forward to seeing how Ward and Glover go in the halves we have the 7 jersey up for grabs to start the season so who wants to take that opportunity. In the backs I’m keen to get a look at Penitani and Siegewalt. Up front it’ll be good to see Ataata all the talk is he’s had a big off season and ready to make the step up. Thomas Fletcher as well I’ll be keen to watch him start the year strong and we welcome back Max McCarthy after the brutal injury he had last year I wish him well. Also what a moment for Bronson getting to Captain us will be a proud moment for he had his family. I’m also looking forward to seeing Tats, Keppie, Le Blanc and young Keung off the bench. Johanneson another looking for opportunity this year and ready to step up as well. Will also be good to see young Matt Humphreys get some minutes off the bench. Many say he’s similar to an Adam Reynolds style of player.
I am also looking forward to saying get em onside ref cmon ref where is our six again holding down slow cmon ref there is two sides out there!
