Well not long til kick off now the day we’ve been waiting for for months! ITS TIME FOR REDEMPTION AND THE PRIDE OF THE LEAGUE TO GET BACK WHERE WE BELONG! Now the time for talk is over it’s time for action. Everyone get your colours on under 2 hours now til we take on the Dolphins up there in Round 1. The boys have worked hard all over the pre season now we hope to see that pay off. Wayne up against his former side and no doubt he always likes to get one over them. For us the journey to getting back into that top 8 starts now and hopefully the boys are right up for it I’m sure they will be. It sounds like it’s very wet up there in Brisbane. All that live up there who are going and those who travelled up enjoy stay safe and I can’t wait to hear that South Sydney chant through my TV at home. How many tries will AJ get today 3 to go!?
Looking at the Dolphins they have some injuries big they still are a big threat and on their day can be lethal. In the backs we all know what Herbie and Hammer bring you can’t give them space and time otherwise they will hurt you time and time again. In the halves I Katoa is a fine young talent as well so we need to put pressure on him. In the forwards they have Flegler and Gilbert who will work tirelessly and the likes of Lemuelu in the back row who can be dangerous. At home they’ll be desperate to start on the right note. For us it looks a much stronger Round 1 line up compared to last year. How good is it to have captain Cam back. It’ll be great to see Fifita as well talk is he’s been training the house down so I can’t wait to watch how he goes today. We have a few out in Arrow, Cheese and Elliot plus J. Humphreys ourselves which is why I think Duncan has gone back to the bench to bring the energy and I can’t wait to see how he goes as well. Up front we will need Keaon and Tatola to do a job especially in this weather we have to win the battle of the forwards. Also what a proud moment for Bronson today I’m sure he won’t let us down and then Pete will bring energy off the bench. Well done to young Ashton too on getting the start he deserves this and it’s a big opportunity for him and I’m certain he’s capable and will step up and direct the boys around well. Cody has had a big pre season as well and I look forward to him doing what we know Cody does best. Then in the backline it’s nice to have our best back 5 all available. I think Jye at the back will be tireless today in this weather and we will need the strong carries out of yardage from Campbell, Jack and Trell as well.
The keys to winning for us I think will be of course to start well but get our defensive game in order and line speed and stopping their offloads. Also discipline will be important we have already seen it can be hard to swing momentum in some of the earlier games this round so we need to make sure we don’t give away too many silly six agains. Most importantly with it being so wet I think we need to be patient in attack and not try to score off every play. Also we will need Ashton and Cody to kick well and get our kick chase on and kick to corners play high percentage footy.
