its not about 'interests' its about have integrity in international selection in Rugby league.

if i just start pullling names out of a lottery for who can play for which country, or just allow everyone to play for whoever they want that doesnt mean that 'the player's interests trump my interests.' it just means that selection is arbitrary and less meaningful.

there are eligibility rules, just as in other sports. If Radradra is eligible, and wants to be selected, and is good enough to warrant selection, then he should be. To do otherwise would infringe upon his rights.

erm ..yeah, int is a complete joke, I'm glad you agree! If you'd been paying attention you'd have noticed that I have said exactly that in here. Players should have to choose a nation, and then that's it, no changes. Of course that would wipe out half the Samoan team!

And there are certain rules that govern it, including eligibility to play for a nation. If Radradra can satisfy the eligibility rule, then he is entitled to be considered for selection. He has not been abducted. He is not being forced to do something against his will. Why should be made to sacrifice his ambitions to play int footy for Oz, just so a few clowns can pretend what a fantasticly international sport league is? It is not. The PI nations are all rugby union mad, and league is only played by those PI'ers who live in Oz or NZ. Now get a grip on yourself!!

We may as well give up guys, the pacific islands are for rugby union only, there is no point in rugby league even attempting to grow. PNG should give up league and switch to union, Fiji should pull out of their nsw cup bid because they should be playing union, Samoa and tonga should never be forced to play again because they are meant to only play union. I should tell my good mates who have played for png and tonga that their achievements were a waste of time because the sport they played was wrong and they couldn't have possibly played an international test match because they were playing rugby league.

FFS, because Semi's not Australian, he is here on a sporting contract, he hasn't chosen to emigrate here because of lifestyle. So you'd be comfortable with James Graham, the Burgess brothers etc playing for Australia as well because they satisfy the 3yr eligibility rule?

The only clown here is yourself if you think League is not growing Internationally especially the Islands, maybe you need to read a few more threads in this International section to further educate yourself on the subject.
