Foran hides behind his partner to much. Great tackler and all that, but other 5/8s can win games on their own. He can't.
Maloney is as bad as a 5/8 could possibly be.
Forgot about Carney some how. He is the best real 5/8 in the comp, but obviously behind Thurston if JT chooses to play there. Is this a troll?
I'd say five-eight is one of the strongest positions in the NRL.
1. Thurston
2. Carney
3. Maloney
4. Foran (IMO his reliance on DCE's kicking game brings him down)
5. Mullen
6. J. Reynolds
7. Sutton
8. Campese
9. Sezer
10. Widdop
11. McCrone
12. Norman
13. Soward (could be higher if he gets to top form, cant see it happening though)

Maloney is total shit, he's like a bad halfback playing 5/8, where he is just as bad and arguably worse.
Mullen is just decent. Solid and reliable, ideally would be the minimum standard of the NRL but here we are and he's one of the best.
J. Reynolds is a bit like Foran, but not as good. Just a tough little lock, still in the current NRL he'd be one of the preferential options at 6.
Sutton is overrated in the extreme, but again one of the preferential options just because he may draw in a defender or two thanks to his size and offload. That's the extent of his value, but that's not bad by NRL 5/8 standards.
Campese is shit.
Sezer is ok, promising to be decent and reliable one day. Nothing special.
Widdop as above.
Mccrone, I don't even know who that is, I've heard the name but he obviously takes being bland and ordinary to a new level if he's managed to hide from me this long.
Norman, might be ok as a 6, at least he'll have a little speed, should make him one of the more useful 6's, even if still basically shit and not a real 6.
Soward, a pitiful joke. If he was a racehorse he would have been shot by now. When I think of him I naturally gag and look away from where I was looking, trying to quickly think of more pleasant thoughts.
Maloney is as bad as a 5/8 could possibly be.
Foran is good, definitely tough, but at times it seems like that's all he has and he should have been a larger man so he could have been a great lock. He's missing a lot of polish for a true 5/8, but his toughness and competitiveness almost make up for it.
I don't know, there's really a ridiculous shortage of 5/8ths in the NRL right now. The two best aren't real ones, JT a halfback, and Foran a small lock.
5/8ths.
Since when did footy players become fractions.
It's 5/8 FFS. Based on 13 players on a field and the positioning of the Five Eight or 5/8 .... not 5 parts of 8.
Here's how I rank them;
Thurston
Sutton
Carney
Foran
daylight.
5/8ths.

He's not a better traditional five eight, but whether he is a better player is perfectly debatable.Lol, another genius souffs fan. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but saying Sutton is better than Carney and Foran is laughable.
Its actually "five-eighth" - because he played between the half and the threequarters. 3/4 = 6/8, 1/2 = 4/8, so in between is 5/8.5/8ths.
