Raper was just interviewed on sports today, i have listed some points he made :-

* he was terribly upset watching the tape of the match

* he has never seen that in birds game , he said how bird was an ornament to the game, junior roo skipper etcetc, BUT that he is most contrite and will accept whatever suspension he gets

* He felt that the main problem was obviously discipline, and that the extra tackles that meant sucked spark our attack

* merrit, vagana and rieck should all be back this week.

* hilder will leikely play 5/8 and be given more reign with the pill, aitken is still not ready and " needs more football" before first grade standard

* greg alexander said " what about some of the players shunted last year, let"s use dean treister for example, he always brought enthusiasm and passion to the team, you need that if saturday is anything to go by, and bosnich, i know he is a 2nd rower moved to hooker, but to me it seemed he still hasnt worked out dummy half play, will you be on the phone to tresiter ?"

raper nearly choked on the phone and responded with " well bos is stil learning, and we have gibson and kingston in lower grades who are keen, i don"t know where Dean ( tresister) is at the moment to be honest, i don't think he is playing, he might have retired, i spoke to him at the start of the year and i didnt have any scope, we had spent all our cap on other positions, so we have to stick with what we've got"

interesting in that Raper knows exactly where Treister is, just down the road ! and also that after he sadi he "had no scope" under the cap, he managed to find something for Seers....money well spent there !!

Birdy an ornament to the game? That's stretching it a bit. :?

Seers and Saleh are collecting 20 cent pieces........

Hilder to 5/8 .....buzz ......wrong answer. Just doesn't have the game for 5/8.

Dallalana has been going great guns and has a great kicking game (Even goals ;-) )

Thank you! Welcome aboard........Along with the other three speedsters.

Who's going to play lock?

Well handled mr Raper.
A couple of pressing problems & the changes he is making are purely injury & suspension.
Aitken is miles away from first standard.
Common sense & big picture mentality is clearly evident here & I'm very glad to see.
The combinations must be allowed to develop & you cant do that with the majority of this forums mentatlity.
I cannot wait to see how Hilder goes.

It worries me that its taken him 4 weeks to work this out, it was obvious from round 1. Maybe he thought things would settle down after a few games, instead its got worse. Lack of quality trial games would also be a factor, but Stuey mate, you have to come down on them hard now.

Instead of seeing Kimmorley whinging to the Ref, I want to see him castigate the player who gave away the stupid penalty ! Everytime he says its the Refs fault, thats a signal to the player that he did no wrong.

Good Luck to Hilder at 5/8. It will be great to have Merrit, Rieck, and Vagana back. Hopefully we'll looks as sharp as we did early against the Dogs.

Good to see that Vangana, Merritt and Reik will be back.

Vangana should help defensively out wide where we have been having problems.

Merritt and Riek ahould add some spark in attak which looked pretty stale last week.

Ill reserve my judgement on Hilder until after the game.

The Cowboys game is going to be a very big danger game IMO as they have not won a game all year and are due for a win.

Yep good point.
IMO this is quite possibly our hardest game of the year.
I worry for the spectacle though with 2 nervous, frustrated teams looking for a win.
I will call this one, the "cringe match"

I can just see it now.....Kimmorley walks over to the player waving his finger at him "You've been a very bad boy, now go back to your position. I don't want to hear from you again, until you are sorry for what you have done."

They are not children, they are grown men. They should know better.

Hmm..

Hilder to 5/8. That means we'll see Bailey move to his preferred position and possibly Galloway starting.

Wouldn't surprise me if Sam ' I'm Mediocre ' Isemonger started either.

yes but they obviously dont.
so if it takes something like kimmorley embarasing them during a game by confronting them and not the ref to stop stupid penelties ben given away, then that doesnt sound like a half bad idea

I wanted to see Hilder get a run at 5/8th before the season started. Then I noticed Greg Bird playing so well. Now that he will be suspended I am relieved that Hilder is getting a go there. I think Aitken has shown flashes of what he is capable of this year in PL but defensivley I prefer Hilder. The backline should be much better this week and hopefully the discipline problem that seems so obvious will finally be addressed.

What backline?
Have you seen the team sheet?

Noticed greg bird playing so well? What playing the pinnies down at fun zone?

i think it's safe to say that, eventhought they played so bad saturday, most players will hold their spots, mainly due to the already numerous forced changes raper will be forced to make :-

bird out
stevens out

vagana IN
rieck IN
merrit IN

peachey
merrit
vagana
mc goldrick
rieck

hilder
kimmorley

bailey
isemonger
bickerstaff

nutely
bosnich
beattie

bench:

galloway
sullivan

2 players promoted, either newton, green, williams, dumas.
