I actually thought it was a great match.. Was on the edge of my seat the whole time and the efforts on effort in defence all game from both sides was amazing to watch.

It was great. LOL @ the Dead V fan. 2010 was horseshit compared to this years.

1st of I will say congrats to the Melbourne Storm as they deserved to win in the end, but my 2 cents on the Morris knock on is that Billy came from behind him, Now I called knock on straight away and I am just clutching at the thinnest of air unfortunately, but how can you call a knock on when a player from behind you has hits the ball..
other than that, the bounce of the ball just decided to go left instead of right
Grandfinal was 1/10 from my blue and white goggles, 8/10 with them off, melbourne extecuted a great gameplan, canterbury pushed the wrong option too many times, passed when should have ran, ran when should have passed.. one of those games, going to be a great year next year, I expect Melbourne and Canterbury to be thereabouts next year..
Congrats Melbourne, and congrats all fans for making 2012 the largest attendance since the reconfig.
Rugby league you are cruel, but I will be back in your stadiums cheering on the blue and white next year.. ciao

Just be tankful you played the 2012 strom and not the 2010 dragons or 2008 eagles eh?

2010 wasn't a great GF by any stretch but at least saints scored points along with their defence.

It was a great game. I think the people on here saying it was boring must either

a.) all be 20 years old or younger or
b.) never played a game of rugby league in their life.

Nice generalization............

Maybe the fact there was 1 try by the dogs didn't help - but at no point did they look like threatening to win.

They needed to score first after halftime - preferably within the first 10 back out.
40minutes later it still hadn't happened.

Oh I waited for the moment when they'd score to make it a 6 point ball game and leave us with a nail biting finish..............................
Knew it wasn't going to happen from the 50th minute onwards.

It was a good intense game of footy, not the most attractive for newbies, but for footy lovers it lived up to its hype. The problem is that the Storm are just too good and nullify any chance of open ended footy to be played. They influence the flow of the game and never let oppositions get a sniff.

Majority of us on here would have known that once the storm pushed out to 14 points they werent gonna get run down. They even allowed the dogs to continue with their game plan knowing they had done their homework and weren’t gonna get beaten by the short at the line and second man plays we have seen all year.

Gotta hand it to the defensive efforts by both teams, more so the dogs. We know how brutal the storm are in attack and to only concede 14 points with the amount of early possession was quite remarkable. Bulldogs attack looked scattered and poor Reynolds and Keating were lost out there. Reynolds established himself as a ball running 5/8 cause nerves would have got to him and was afraid to pass, while Keating struggled to find any rhythm the entire game and was just going through the motions.

Congratulations to the Storm and unlucky for the Bulldogs.

Soft tries =/= good games.

True but if you take 2008 as an example (most one sided GF of the lot), the tries weren't soft at all. Ballin from dummy half to start was probably the softest and he did a brilliant job to get that down. Then the hattrick from Robertson, on the end of some great backline moves and pinpoint kicking from Orford. Williams at the other end again on the back of a good backline move. Kite's try would have been a grand final classic had it occurred in a close game. Beaver's try was again on the end of some great play to get Robertson away in the corner and then finally a great play from Hall to put Stewart through before a brilliant flick out the back to put Bell over. One sided match and probably not great from a neutral perspective but the tries were all top quality.

The first half was excellent, the second half fell away.
Canterbury never got going at all.

Melbourne were brilliant in the first half, and if Smith could have kicked some goals, the game would have been over with 25 minutes still to play.

Average at best, I was left feeling somewhat disappointed. Melbourne too clinical & Canterbury played their worst game all year. Massive choke on the big stage by the doggies. Unfortunate indeed.

I enjoyed the game. Thought the Storm were just to good for the Dogs. Was on the edge of my seat right up till the last few minutes.

Reminded me of 2000. Defence stifled attack. Defence was fantastic - possibly the one game I have seen where all 34 players defended at their best for the full 80. It lacked the classic attacking genius that Morris' try could have been. To me, it was short of the classic Blacklock/Richards/Moi Moi try to be a great GF. And for all the great defence - cant remember a massive Vilisanti/Fittler or Morely/Vilisanti hit.

Still shades in comparison to 2003.

Nice post Strat.

I will be biased here and say it was awesome (mainly to watching the game with a bunch of dogs fans).

The defence was great from both teams, the refs were fairly quiet.

The main difference was experience.

Spewing Norries try was disallowed (rightly so though. I'm sure if that happened the past couple of week the video refs would have found a way to award the try)

I agree with Strat. Had the bounce been slightly different for Morris it would have been a completely different game with an awesome try and attacking flair to boot. Also the inexperience from the Dog's halves showed with some poor kicking options at crucial times.

But it was still an enthralling contest to see the both teams do their best to defend as a unit.

And nice to see a good performance from the refs.

One sided game and Melbourne packed it in big time.

Just like 07 really but vice versa.

Wasn't the best one I've ever seen. It was dour, scores remained low and reasonably close but it was actually a pretty boring game on the whole IMO.
