2GB's loudmouth sports jock/morning host Ray Hadley, OAM - as he's billed on his boastful personal website here - has gone nuclear over his station's increasingly chaotic Olympic coverage.

Sydney media circles are a buzz with an explosive bootleg tape doing the rounds, in which Hadley is heard screaming down the line from Athens about the incompetence of the 2GB Macquarie news team, demanding that heads should roll.

The tape is studded with the f-word (20 by our count). At times, Hadley is incoherent with rage. At one point he refers to a senior 2GB news director as "a f*cking spastic", and demands that he should be fired by the station's program director, John Brennan.

We can only assume the news director in the firing line is
former Alan Jones producer Justin Kelly, who despite being a staunch Parrot loyalist is a strong, experienced news hand.

Even radio people accustomed to Hadley's bullying fits of fury are startled by this one. They say it has hit a new low. Morale at 2GB, already low over its Olympics fiasco, is now reported to be bumping along the bottom.

Ray would probably argue that the difference between him and those he criticises is that he didn't do it in public.

Well, as a celebrity who gets paid millions of dollars to be a moral crusader, and a role model, he should realise that he will always come under scrutiny, just as he says about the players. I'm sure the players that he picks on for their various indescretions didn't intend for them to be made public either.

I think Hadley will be forced to apologise (which for him is a big step). There is a letter a written to todays Daily Tele from a sufferer of cerebal plasy, and I believe this one of hundreds of written complaints to either the media and his employer.

Ray is a great commentator but when things go wrong he seems to be uncontrollable and says things a professional shouldn't

I doubt it... "if" it went to air the producer would lose their job, not Hadley. Being in Athens he'd have no control over what's put to air here.

There's 2 ways it was leaked being mentioned

1 - The audio was still going to the affiliate stations, but not on air. One of them grabbed the sound, and placed it on the net
2 - It was in the Athens Broadcasting Centre where everything is recorded. Someone in there released it

Apparently Ray wanted a partial replay of a race to be included in the news bulletin. Justin disagreed, and didn't put it in just giving the result.

Several years ago on Channel 10 where a news reader made the comment "By his testicles" when the mic should have been turned off, was sacked and not the person who was to blame - He introduced a news story and the intro ended with "he was suspended", and about 5 seconds into the story when he shouldn't be heard made that comment

But early last year when another newsreader in channel 10 made the comment when she thought she was still in an ad "that bastard I'm married to wants to go skiing in ???" wasn't sacked and was only warned. The person who forgot to tell them they were back on air wasn't sacked either.

Of course Rays tirade was much worse, but the Channel 10 experience when they sacked the news reader does raise the possibility Ray could have got sacked.
