How did this audio byte come about? Someone recorded it and leaked it?

There's 2 ways it was leaked being mentioned

1 - The audio was still going to the affiliate stations, but not on air. One of them grabbed the sound, and placed it on the net
2 - It was in the Athens Broadcasting Centre where everything is recorded. Someone in there released it

He was angry at a mistake made by 2GB news director Justin Kelly.

Apparently Ray wanted a partial replay of a race to be included in the news bulletin. Justin disagreed, and didn't put it in just giving the result.

I doubt it... "if" it went to air the producer would lose their job, not Hadley. Being in Athens he'd have no control over what's put to air here.

Not necessarily

Several years ago on Channel 10 where a news reader made the comment "By his testicles" when the mic should have been turned off, was sacked and not the person who was to blame - He introduced a news story and the intro ended with "he was suspended", and about 5 seconds into the story when he shouldn't be heard made that comment

But early last year when another newsreader in channel 10 made the comment to her follow nesreader when she thought she was still in an ad "that bastard I'm married to wants to go skiing in ???" wasn't sacked and was only warned. The person who forgot to tell them they were back on air wasn't sacked either.

Of course Rays tirade was much worse, but the Channel 10 experience when they sacked the news reader does raise the possibility Ray could have got sacked.

Oops didn't notice that you couldn't edit your posts in this forum. I just clicked the button where 'edit' usually is and didn't notice I was replying and not editing.

Ray would probably argue that the difference between him and those he criticises is that he didn't do it in public.

Well, as a celebrity who gets paid millions of dollars to be a moral crusader, and a role model, he should realise that he will always come under scrutiny, just as he says about the players. I'm sure the players that he picks on for their various indescretions didn't intend for them to be made public either.

Mark Gasnier didn't do his call in public either, yet he was castigated by Hadley from pillar to post.

The biggest Hypocrite in radio. It's not ok for Gibbys and Brohman to take the money and go to 2GB, but it's ok for Roy Hardley to do so.

Singo and Brennan make excuses sauch as "Ray is under extreme pressure with a very high workload".

Well he could do us all a favour by freeing up his weekends and leaving the rugby league talk to people who are actually passionate about the game. Spend some time with your family Roy - do us all a favour!!

I might add this very "high workload" also comes as part of a very handsome financial package.

Ray should adhere to the same moral levels that he demands from others. Not only has he failed to do so, he's gone a step worse by calling him a f'n spastic. For someone who owes a lot of his success to his stance on morality, he's really shown his hypocracy. He deserves every piece of criticism he gets.

When he was going off about Willie Mason and Mark Gasnier, he was absolutely appalled. He devoted hours to bringing them down, and was partially responsible for the punishment handed out to them. How has what he's done make him any better than them?

I have a feeling he won't do it again.

How many of you have ever been caught out giving someone a bit of a pasting, and then turn around and realise they are within earshot???

Ian Chappell did it in the 80's and copped a pizzling from Billy Birmingham on the 12th Man sendup.

It'd be nice if Ray Hadley's approach to football players indescretions were as tolerant as your approach to him fibro_man. I didn't hear Ray coming out and saying that he has a feeling that the players wouldn't do it again, and dismissing them as something that everyone has done every now and then. He wouldn't let those issues die. Now I'm sure Ray would like this one to blow over, just as those players wished their issues would blow over. Ray wouldn't let them blow over though. He's only got himself to blame on this one.

I demand a fine and a suspension from the continuous call team.

The truest measure of a person's character is what they say when they don't know it's being said publicly

Ray demands footballers always behave perfectly even when not in the public eye because people will hear about it. He's comment about the phone call, was even though it was a private call not meant to be made public, he should take responsibility since because who he is, the call will be made public.

Ray is also in the public eye, so he should take the same stance. Always behave perfectly.

If Ray didn't carry on about the footballers like he does, people wouldn't have as big an issue with him doing this.

I disagree with Ray's opinion on footballer's behaviour. I think they should be able to have a beer and a bit of fun. But I do find Ray quite entertaining to listen to. Then again I used to like listening to Stan Zemanek until he went all soft.

He's a trowel of a human being. Just listened to this - I hope people with cerebral palsy get right up him about this, and don't stop until he makes a public apology and a hefty donation to The Spastic Centre. And is therefore exposed as a hypocrite that takes up moral crusades purely for ratings, and doesn't practice what he preaches.

It was actually funnier than this as it was a story about a female German (I think) swimmer who was charged with steroid use and was suspended (by the testicles).
