Rayman Origins - anybody care about 2d platforming anymore?

there is definitely a place in the market for 2D platforming, and as you said it is generally in the XBLA/PSN/Steam indie game market. there are rare exceptions like Paper Mario - which is a Platformer/RPG hybrid... but for the most part i wouldn't be willing to spend any more than about $20 on a 2D platformer. games like Trine and Braid have recently shown that there is plenty of life in the genre, though. i think if you bring enough new to the table you can also get away with it, too (like New Super Mario Bros Wii with its multiplayer).
