Razors could fold. Need new owners.

Sad but true according to the Telegraph today.
I for one don't want them to go. Western Sydney NEEDS to be represented in the NBL as does Canberra and Newcastle.
Looks like they are going to get up tonight against the Hawks and I hope that if they win it impresses the new consortium that is going to buy them.
Best of luck to them. It would be a shame to see them leave the NBL.

It does bring into question the wisdom of the NBL's expansion policy over the past few years. Since 1998, they have added West Sydney, Cairns, New Zealand, South Dragons and the Gold Coast, while the Falcons and Titans went belly-up and Canberra relocated to Hunter and then to Singapore. Not a very stable situation!

The plight of the Razorbacks this year suggests that we don't have the depth for 12 teams, let alone the 13 for next year.

Cairns will not fold. I've been up there for a game, they're so loved there. And besides, they're the only team in Cairns and aren't competing with any other club, so they'll be fine.

New Zealand look solid, although their crowd looks deceivingly big, when they are really just playing in a smaller stadium. Hunter was a disaster, the Titans were not much better.

I'm skeptical about the new Gold Coast team, given the induction of the new rugby league team up there.

As for the Razorbacks, I was split on the matter from day one. Did Sydney really need another team given they only had around 5 000 turning up per game when there was only one team in town? Not even three straight championships has made basketball a glamour sport in Sydney. It was a risk in the first place, in my opinion.

If the Breakers get on a winning run they'll draw crowds just fine.

It wasn't that long ago the Razorbacks had a Grand Final series all but sewn up.

The Kings had fans untill those fans like all Roosters fans jumped off the bandwagon when they finally lost a GF. Those fans all see the Kings as what they really are. Money hungary tossers. BG has to learn you can't always buy a premiership.

Razorbacks on the other hand have bad crowds because we have been playing bad. There crowds were awsome from 98 - 2003-04. If we can get back to winning the great crowds come back in. The passion will rise once more.

The hardcore fans in the Members stand will always be around. But Saturday night was a great crowd, it felt like old days again.

This is half replying to SWJ and half me just ranting at the NBL and the Kings.
The Kings had fans until they started getting above themselvs and started charging $35 min just to get into the stadium for the 03-04 season.
Im a Kings fan and it sh*ts me how they treat their fans and is the reason I stopped getting season tickets a few years back. Good example is they take the money from their loyal fans for season tickets and then move games to Canberra! Where no one is a Kings fan and very few Kings fans make the trip down.
A Kings game is like a library and alot of free corporate tickets. The court announcer is crapola and has no idea what he's doing. Little things as well get to me. like the KFC start a chant so what does mr best court announcer in the world do? Put on music drowning them out!
Kings 'fans' only cheer when they have a chance of getting something for free. It's pathetic. The Kings organisation has seperated itself so much from it's fans it's not funny.
Now to my rant about the NBL.
They are a joke! I have come to the point where I would rather see the game grow in Australia and not in New Zealand and Singapore. Let them worry about their own leagues and players!
This sh*t about expanding overseas is just farcical. Singapore and NZ should NOT be in the NBL. Maybe if the NBL actually got its act together in Australia first then maybe but as it is right now no.
This is what I would do if I ran the NBL.
Canberra
2 Sydney teams
Newcastle
Cairns
Townsville
The Gong
Brisbane
Gold Coast
Perth
Adelaide
Tasmania
2 Melbourne teams
Raise the salary cap so we can at least table decent offers to young American and Euro players.
Get rid of the points cap.
Change the import rule to 4 players per roster and they are set for the season.
once the league is stable then think about going overseas but not beofre like the NBL has done.
Im just really annoyed with the NBL right now.
blah rant over!

Well tomorrow the West Sydney franchise will be terminated. What a disgrace NBL!
They should have given them at least an extension.

The FFA has part ownership of some of the unstable A-league clubs, or in Perth Glorys case whole ownership while new owners are found. With all the comings and goings of NBL clubs perhaps this would be a good idea to gain some stability? Thats if the NBL has the sort of money to do so.

West Sydney jumped the shark when they were forced out of the Whitlam Centre at Liverpool because of it's unfireproofness (it's a word, I think).
Liverpool is probably the only big district in Sydney not to have a team to identify with, and that proved costly for the Razors.

I bloody hope not.

We now need to build on what we have as we can not afford another 2 wooden spoons or next time no one will save our ass and back us.
